Rev limiting with a GM HEI module

Has anyone used a rev limiter with a GM HEI module and MOPAR electronic distributor? If so what model was it and how well did it work? I'm considering using an MSD Soft Touch. That seems to be a less expensive solution and I like the way it limits revs. I emailed MSD but they ignored me. Maybe they're really busy. Just looking for guidance.
 
Anything that hooks "traditionally" to coil neg. "should" work OK. All they do is short the coil neg terminal to ground when the limit is reached, thus preventing the ignition module or points from pulsing the coil.

Some work better than others, and I have not kept up with them. Years (YEARS!!) ago, Autometer had a separate "can" that I believe actually contained a relay. It was a horrid thing.
 
The MSD unit looks like a good choice for the money.
I have looked into them before because of the HEI systems I build.
 
Make sure you specify the MSD Soft Touch is for a Mopar ignition; I bought one only to find out it wouldn't work without modificaton by MSD. Can't remember what the modification cost; maybe $30 or $35 around 2004 or 2005 - it worked perfectly after they fixed it.

MSD's website says they make two models - the 8738 for use with it's MSD-6T and the 8728 for use with Ford and Chrysler electronic ignitions and the GM HEI large cap distributor. I believe I need to verify how to wire it up to a GM HEI module, not a MOPAR ignition.

GENERALLY it hooks to coil neg, "unless" as the destructions say it may not in all cases. There are several diagrams in there for various GM hookups
