Air shocks..why?

Back in the day air shocks were used for tire clearance. For the young ones here, manufactured after market rims back then didn't have backspace options. Most big tires wouldn't fit inside the rear wheel wells, thus air shocks were used to raise the rear for clearance. Back then most big rear tires stuck out of the rear fender lip. Installing the air shocks for tire clearance created the raked effect. It had nothing to do with looking cool. With all the backspace rim choices today, there's no need for air shocks. Tuck the tires in with the correct backspacing, unless you're going for the old school look. JMO
