Headed out to the junk yard for some 15" steel wheels. What are some cars I should be on the look out for for some 15 x 7s??? How bout 15 x 6s?

Big bolt pattern of course.

Thanks!

Station wagons, pickups, and cop cars come to mind, make sure they will clear your brakes if that might be an issue.

Specifically, I'm looking for something that will accept the poverty caps I currently have on my SBP 14s. Getting ready to swap to BBP all the way around and just need wome wheels. Will the caps I have now fit pickup steelies?

Yeah, they are getting hard to find, I found 3 15 5 1/2 on 67 dodge p/u. The rear's on my car had special built I wanted an extra 1/4 inch offset. You can also use Eric at classic chambered Exhaust. Good Luck.

I'd look at full size vans and Ramchargers too. I'm running (4) 15 x 7 steelies on my 68 car and IIRC, the date codes on the wheels are from 1982/1983. I got them at a Mopar swap meet for something like $100/4. After putting about 2 hours into each one, sanding, filling, priming, painting, etc., I found out one of them was bent and had to find a fifth. It's actually easier to buy new after-market shiny wheels than refurb old steelies :yawinkle:

le barons , 5th avenues, diplomats, vans , trucks , ramchargers ... these were on a late 70's van...

Dog dish should fit. My wheels came from a 1984 New Yorker.

They are 15" x 7" with LBP

Be careful if you look for wheels off of a Dodge truck/van/Ramcharger since Dodge went to a 5x5.5" bolt pattern on their trucks around 1984 or so. I would go with what Tony Fields and 73ABodEE said and go with M or even J body wheels, Diplomat, Gran Fury, Fifth Avenue/New Yorker or St. Regis even a Cordoba, Charger/Magnum as long as its rear wheel drive. Some are 6" and some are 7" wide.

I got a nice set of cop steelies with dog dishes, buy the time I was done I had $350 wrapped up in them and a lot of time.

Refurbishing old wheels sucks, time you sand blast, primer and paint, it will add quite a few dollars to you initail purchase price.
The last set I did, I could have bought new ones for what I had in them.
One thing that I have heard on the new ones are the dog dish does not fit them very well.
