i dont quite have a car yet but ive been looking and i was curious on a mini tubbed car whats the biggest wheel size you can use and what other modifications would you need to do to fit it under there (shorteneed rear end ect) this will be a prostreet style car so streetability is a must

325/50/15 is probably the largest I have seen but there MIGHT be room for a little more, but it would be getting real tight. I have 325/50/15's and am having rubbing issues when cornering since the tires aren't 100% on center in the wheel well. They could stand to go out another quarter to half an inch.

so you recommend about a 14-13" tire will shortening of the rearend be in the works also? ill probably be buying a plymouth duster if that helps any

Yes that is what I would recommend. You don't HAVE to shorten the rear end but it may limit your wheel choice. You'll need a lot of backspacing to keep the factory rear the way it is. My recommendation is to choose the wheels you want and make the rear work for that, whether it requires shortening of the axles and housing or not. I'm sure someone here with a Duster will chime in on what backspacing you'll need for that combo. I would guess somewhere around 6.5" backspacing or so, but I'm not sure of that.

thank you very much, i want the prostreet look, keep it streetable but also have big enough tires to be able to hold my power goals, i want to get the suspension done before i do anything with the engine, so when its time for power it will already be done.

Shortening the rear will depend on the rims you're planning to run. If you're going to run 15" rims, shortening the rear might be a good idea as it can be hard to find 15" rims with a deep backspace. If you're going to run 17's or 18's you'd be better off leaving the rear end the stock width, as most off the shelf 17's and 18's have plenty of backspacing.

And of course you'll need to do the 3" spring relocation for the mini-tub to do you any good.

even with 17" wheels i have to jack up the car, put it on stands and unbolt the rear shackle to let the rear come down. then i can get the wheel off. i have 17x11 wheels with 7" backspace. 325-45-17 tires. they are 28 tall and 12 wide.

+1 on that. With the 4 link, I have to unbolt the coil overs and drop the rear as far down as it will go and that BARELY gets it down far enough to get the tires in. Then, partially get the tires in crooked, jack up the rear a little, re-adjust the tires, jack up rear, then I can get the tires on straight. Bolt the coil overs back on and away we go. I hope that I never have to change a rear tire on the road. It would be next to impossible to do out there.

yep same boat on my 70 dart. dana 60, 4 link, mini tubbed, 17x11 with 4.25 backspace. deep dish status. :D

315/35/17 tire
