DUI anyone tried it

-
The problem with that is in design engineering. GM was the first to place the coil on top of the distrubuter but others tried it too including Honda.
I wont say its any more or less dependable than other ignition systems. They all fail.
I can say Honda abandonded that pile up after only 1 years production ( 92 I think ).
Will it fit the A-body with any available wiper motor ? Can'answer that one.

I don't thin it'll fit an abody with a stock wiper motor, my MSD E-curve barely fits, and I mean barely but I don't know how tall those are.
I will say though when you said DUI I was thinking of something else haha

its the most dependable dizzy set-up built,..just based off a gm design,..an takin 2 to 3 levels up,....only thing more accurate is crank trigger deals,..an its good to 9,000 rpms an over 65,000 volts from one 10 gauge wire hook up!! wouldnt call it a pile up!

yes..they will fit an A body with wipers.....tight fit...but it will fit.

picked up one of the DUI race units a few years ago...have not used it YET....probably this spring...very nice piece though

If you search the site you will see they make a model with a smaller cap (small block size) and external coil. This is the version they recommend for A Bodies. The control module is mounted on the side.

Here's a link to the DUI "Dodge Tri-Power Ignition" distributor with the smaller cap, externally mounted module, and separate coil. They specifically say "This system is ideal for small blocks in Darts, Demons, Dusters and pre-1970 Barracudas that also cannot use the DUI."

Wow! $309 for an e-distributor w/ 4-pin HEI module bolted to the side, plus a canister coil. The Chinese "ready-to-run" distributor on e-bay is similar but the module is covered and has an apparently better pickup, ~$65 w/ better E-core coil.
