What do you guys use? I need a good timing light. Tired of having a broken junk timing light that doesn't work. I have 2, a craftsman and some off brand that arn't worth a sh*t. I want something good. I'll spend the money. What do you guys use?

I use a Ferret 84. Ferret makes lights for SnapOn tools, Matco and Mac tools.Made in USA! The light is extremly bright and it works like a champ with MSD ignitions. Google it and shop around for the best price.

I use a snap-on timming light with inductive pick-up, and a dial....I'v had it sense the mid eighties....never a problem.

Love that model Snap on,also have a old Mac dialback light Tool Man Mike helped me with...! What ignition you running ? Heard of problems,of the digital display lights having problems with older MSD boxes.I don't know ,if true.

Currently I have FBO ignition, which I guess is like a glorified stock ignition system...In the future, I would like to upgrade to MSD digital 6+ box with a pro billet dizzy and blaster ss coil...

So I need something that will work with both...

I've heard good about these flaming river timing lights as well?

I'm with the guys on Snap-On. 1 is close to 40 years old and was made by Fox Valley. The other is about 6 years old. Both dial backs. No digital stuff for me.

You'd laugh at the POS timing light I use... I don't like dial backs.

Just an old inductive light.

Got a nice snap on with tach/advance feature, and an old craftsman inductive light that I used for years along with some timing tape. I like both lights.

I've had my old Craftsman dialback forever. It literaly has a dial knob. It's been through hell and is surprisingly accurate.

Not really. When youput Brian's heads on,have you degreed the cam, with the balancer you installed?

got an old craftsman dial back...the inductive clip was half melted..and the knob for the dial back has part of it missing....found the replacement parts at sears for it....look like new now..

you're sellin it, or you wanna own it? lol

No, unfortunately...I did not degree my cam, just lined up the dots...I know now to always degree a cam...:violent1:

So, will there be extra problems because of that, or can we work around it?

I'm keeping mine for now. You never know when it might come in handy.:D

P.S. And keep your hands off my 40 yr old Craftsman dwell/tach too.....lol.

I picked up old green Inductive timing light at a yard sell. It's the oldest timing light I've ever seen and I'm no spring Chicken. I'd post a picture but I have 12 days left until I get back from work. For 2 bucks I couldn't pass it up. I don't know if it works but it looks cool as hell! IIRR it's an Arrow or Rocket brand.

Reason I am asking,is the the B & M supercharger recipient.

yea..i want everything perfect before it goes on. it was running great, something somehow got outa wack.

so, i will degree the cam, i will find out exactly what curve my distributor has because that is unknown to me, and i need to check and see if the power valves in my carb is blown because the engine backfired a few times...

i will follow that timing/carb thread with all the information that 67dart273 put in it regarding degreeing the harmonic dampener, and proper timing, so i was looking for a good timing light...lol

Mine was an inline unit that used coil power to flash a xeon bulb. It had too much cable to it and risked getting in the fan so I pull the fan belt off now. HAd a dial back but it walked....cool because one motor didnt have any graduated marks, just a TDC mark.
