Boycott Sears

-
Not to open a big can of worms, and hope to not hurt any employees, but don't forget the corporate sister co. that starts with a K.

Yeah Boycott K Mart too. And Lands End Stores

K Mart is just like Walmart and they are known "The store from Hell" in our family. I haven't been in a K Mart in 10 years and never even seen a Lands End store.

they have been closing down k marts here left and right. walmart has taken over. they closed the second to last target last year , there is only one sears left in the city of CO springs

Full disclosure.....when i was trading in my personal account i owned Sears holdings, ticker "SHLD" several times off and on. Eddie Lampert, the CEO was a commercial real estate guy and in my opinion, never cared about the retail part of the businesses. Yea i made some coin, but when the real estate side of the market started to tank in the late 2000's i got the he!! out for good.

They're going to close the big Sears store here in honolulu within a year, and I'm gonna miss them. Too many of the well established department stores, both well healed and "value" stores such as Sears and J.C. Penny are being driven out of the marketplace by aggressive and progressive new stores.

I'm sorry you're losing your source of income friend, i really am, but after going through a lifetime of Sears shopping, I'm sorry but boycotting them isn't in the cards for this old timer. -pauly

Same here.....In a round about way the USPS is responsible for the beginning of the downward spiral of my wife's health.....but we have realized that in life things happen.....and there aint no point in being bitter.....Hell, look at what the Post Office has done with pretty much everyone who was injured on the job and had somewhat severe restrictions......they told them that even thought they have been providing work for these folks for years that there is no longer work for them, to go home and fight with the DOL to get paid......pretty much every Limited Duty person in the Phoenix plant has filed for disability retirement.

Businesses have to do what they have too in order to keep the doors open. Having all your eggs in one basket is never a good thing when you are self employeed. I think I saw your ad on Cragslist, it is pretty vague and needs punched up plus some photos added. Personally I would also loose the God Bless because it turns away customers because it makes people think scamer. I hope for the very best for you.

Isn't this your ad?

Sears is on their way out, K-mart sucks anyway. Old timers will still shop there and think it's a good deal because it's what they know, and their stuck in their ways. All I can say is, times change.

Thank you Al Gore for the internet. :D

My girl friend works for sears . 8'25 an hour . Won't let her get more than 30 hours a weak . No payed holidays . She will be working Christmas Eve . She works her *** off .and the employs are not treated good at all they had the head guy tell them if they don't like the way he treats them to quit his words were we can have ten more gorillas here to take your place tomarow . Sears sucks and I won't shop there . I'm an hvac tech my self . Sear . Homedepo , lowes and the rest are trying to have all the old returned appliances destroyed so to put the small mom and pop used appliances stores out of buisiness . I would never buy a new appliance there junk buy used most the people with small stores take pride in giving a quality appliance older whirlpool is the way to go may tag sucks the new ref with the control boards go out all the time rant over

I refuse to deal with Sears ever again. Just too much crap with them over the years but this was the last straw for me. They are nothing more than thieves destroying American jobs. http://www.manufactu...ling-innovation Read about it or watch the vid and make up your own mind.

My old machinist works as a refrig/HVAC specialist, employed by private party owners. On call, one of every 4 weeks.Paid 26.00 an hour.

Sounds like more corporate downsizing for larger profits screwing employees. It hits everyone in the end.

I have always been a Sears shopper because I can get better prices there on applicances when they are on sale. With their made in China Craftsman tools I won't be shopping there near as much. Our other choices are stores like Lowes and Home Depot who have little to no customer support for their appliances or lawn equipment or WalMart that is a low pay wages and a China lover too. Like it or not our economy isn't likely to do anything different until tariffs are placed on import stuff so jobs will be brought back to the USA.

Again,...to save $1.19 ???,....My wife and I thougt that way till we shopped around to all the big stores for a new washer,....(We do alot of homework), Ended up buying from a local small chain, who matched and beat the price of alla bigger stores, by 60 bucks,...including Sears,....

But what sold me was the fact that when I asked the salesman "Who do I get when I have a prob and I call 1-800-bla-blah?? He called the number right then and there and got the repair guy who was responsible for the brand we bought,...He is 45 minutes from my house,....

That's What I'm talking about, right there folks,...If Sears still continued this practice, some of your local fellow Americans would still be employed,....Instead you get someone who shows up 5 days later and has to wait 6-8 weeks for parts,...

Took me awhile, but I was able to break Dad of his Sears fixation,... AFTER 7MONTHS of trying to get his well pump fixed , I had to threaten and initiate legal action against SEARS because they dragged their feet concerning his service contract.

The Sears CEO thanks you from the bottom of his wine cellar in the Caymans...

Keep in mind, that if Sears goes out of business, all of our Crapsman tools won't have any warranty.....

Ahh,...Mr Krazy,...Up late or up early???,....:coffee2:

I learned 35 years ago that Craftsman, (used to be) great for Joe Homeowner,...But I outgrew them on a professional level a long time ago,...If it breaks, It cost me time and money,...don't matter how good a warrenty it has...

Sears will never go out if business, they're huge company and someone will buy them. I'm a sub contractor for sears and see alot that the general public doesn't see. I'll admit its not always easy working with sears but there's more to this story we'll never know. Sears or any retailer doesn't let people go in their busiest time of the year for no reason.I'm not defending sears,I've heard of some real shitbag stories out of management BUT if everyone is doing their job theres no reason to let anyone go.

Both...

Yes, during the mid 80's the quality of craftsman went to crap. A crappy tool doesn't do me any good when I'm fixing my DD and the tool breaks in middle of the job and I have no transportation to take it back to exchange it so I can get my car working again.... They just don't understand that concept....

Give me a good quality tool that I can rely on to fix my car at anytime. That's what I expect out of a good quality tool.

Sears has a management problem. They are running themselves and K-fart into the ground! The upper management has no clue what the "common man" wants and needs from them. The super K that they built here was real busy when it opened. Now Walmart opened a super store 2 miles away and now, K-fart is almost a ghost town. I can go there at any time of day and if I rolled bowling balls down the aisle, would not hit anyone.... They are trying to be a jack of all trades, but are master of none....

I tried to cash in my "bonus" points and buy a new air compressor last summer before the points expired after a year. It took over 5 weeks for them to accomplish this sale.... WTF??? While they were ringing up the sale originally, the cash register/computer froze up after I signed my name for the credit card to pay the difference. They could not print me up a receipt for that purchase. When they tried to re-ring it up, the bonus points were gone from my account and my points were already taken out of my account. "Don't worry, it will be corrected on the next overnight update...." Go back 2-3 days later three times and nothing.... Points still gone from my account and the money still missing from my bank account. I kept telling the manager, "look, the money is taken out of my account and the points are out of my account also. I have paid for the compressor, why can't you just give me one and you deal with the bs later.... It was after all your lack of fixing a problem register that caused this in the first place." Long story short, 5 weeks later I finally walked out with my new compressor.... Their computer system that is set up by "corporate" is not accomodating enough to let the employees or managers correct for problems....

But they do have a reason,...It's called the bottom line,...If you live and work in an area thats a little slower (retail wise), then It sucks to be you,...If they can ship it out for repair to save $1.19, then it sucks to be you. With reasoning like this, It's no wonder Joe Lunchbox don't stand a chance, no matter what he does or doesn't do..

An Employee is just a number to the corporate beanies,...ask anyone who worked for AT&T (another texas tragedy),...Its all about the bottom line,...As long as the shareholders are happy then It sucks to be Joe Lunchbox,...Hell, even corporate managment has a high turnover rate,...(this used to be unheard of)...

I learned a looooong time ago in the dealership business that if a business that sells could cut out the repair end of their business they would, in a heartbeat,...at best, it's a break even proposition for the bottom line,...

Meaning this,...If a Widgit company only had to sell Widgits and not have to worry about repairing Widgits,...there would be no Widgit repairmen....

So when Sears only sells crap and won't repair It, they're hoping you'll just buy more crap.,...Hell Walmart thrives on this philosophy....

Absolutely right. Believe me I got a 1 paragraph e mail that states "Due to Business Decisions your contract is null and void effective immediately" No other reasons given whatsoever. And they worded the contract so they could terminate it at any time for any reason. I was a contractor at will. For those out here who wish to spend their money there, go right ahead. But I and everyone I know and a lot of people I do not know will never set foot in a Sears store ever again. My customer feedback scores were 4.7% out of a possible 5 star rating that they use to gauge contractor compliance. I have done almost 2500 jobs for them and this is how these a-holes thank me.

Your right to a point BUT in this case they are hurting their bottom line. Sears sells a appliance and the customer needs it installed if the salesman tells the customer i can sell you this dishwasher But i cant install it for you 9 times outa 10 that customer is going else where to purchase their appliance where they can buy it and have it installed in one shot. Now how is that benefitting Sears bottom line? Also you buy a appliance from sears and have it installed the installer doesnt get all the money if their REAL lucky they get half so they sell install for $100 the installer gets $50 theres another $50 sears has lost on not counting what they profit from the sale of the appliance.

Hey the 2500 jobs you've done is that in a year?

No this is the total of jobs Ive completed since I had been with them from June 2009-Dec 2012. And you are right about how they charge the customer and pocket the cash from the install company. No extra pay for delivery. It was supposed to be a contract for installations. Not delivery. So the installer has to deliver (for free) and install. What a racquet these people have.

,...Good question,...prolly outa ask them that,...

I can't speak for the install part, cause I do that stuff myself,...I'm not the brightest bulb in the pack, but I'm not stupid or lazy, and (thank the lord) still physically able...

I was gearing my comments towards the repair end of the biz, as thats what I've done my whole life,...

I guess I'm just totalley sickened with the way Corporate biz runs these days,...To lay off a guy before the holidays???...Really???Ya couldn't have waited a month or so, or maybe done it a few months previous????...All so some bean counter can make his Exec boss look good and get his 5 mill bonus,....It's a moral travesty that the american public is totally apathetic about,...as long as they get theirs, they could care less...

I'll be drivin by Sears and not stopping while I'm finishing up my shopping this morning,..My meager amount of American Dollars will be spent on the local's...
