Hey guys, need a bit of help here. My dart sport has a 73 400 out of a motor home in it, I am wanting to get some parts for it that I know I will need if I ever manage to get her on the road such as new belts, alternator, water pump then a tune up. Question I have is what do I buy parts for? Do I just pick a Chrysler/Dodge car from 73 that had a 400 in it, or try and figure out what kind of motor home it may have been or?

Thanks

The closest you will get stock imo would be a 73 B body Road Runner, Sat , GTX ,Charger as far as stock.
I had a 400 in 73 Duster I can't remember specifics. I just went by trial and error, but I had alot of parts to pick from.

Alright, so if I go to the parts house and get parts for a 73 road runner I might just get what I need...guess its a starting point huh...

thanks

ac or not? and if it has a high-mount power steering pump then it wont be for a car. ive seen trucks come either way, and cars have the p/s pump mounted lower. itll also matter if you have a 100 amp or a 60 amp squareback alternator, and what crank pulley youre running and if it has that goofy idler pulley on the lower passengers side. i did something similar in my chrysler, it has a 77 truck motor in it. i converted it to a squareback alternator with a non-a/c water pump pulley (which was a NIGHTMARE to find in the junkyard), low mount p/s pump (luckily it already had it) and a 2 groove crank pulley. its as close to a 72-74 non a/c car setup as i could get. post up some pics that would help greatly.

No ac, heres some pics I have handy, can grab some others tomorrow if these are not good enough. A member on here, Mrmopartech has been helping me with getting a plan together and some distributor issues. Very nice community here, thanks a lot.

on the plus side you have 95% "car stuff", only difference is, you need an early 70s car non-ac water pump pulley, it has a much much deeper recess in it. 1 belt goes from the inner crank pulley groove, to the water pump, to the inner groove on the alternator, and the second goes from the outer crank groove to the p/s, or if youre picky, find a recessed power steering pump pulley and run the p/s in the middle crank pulley groove, just remember, oil filter clearance is an issue, napa 1068 or 1085 will fit, the 1068 of the O.E. filter, the 1085 is just a shorter version. either way would get you into the 70-74 non-a/c car type setup! good luck!
