1969 Barracuda 'Options'

BB Dave,

I think I got it,,,,,,,,after 43 years.

The black rear trunk-lid deck panel 'applique' black with the 'Formula S' medallion on the
right side of the panel, only came through with the Formula S package, either with the
standard 340 engine or 383 optional engine.

These cars, also had the 'Barracuda 340-S' emblem on the front fenders.

The standard Barracuda, ordered with the Code #E55 (340 Engine Package) also
had the 'Barracuda 340-S' emblems on the front fender.

The 340-S emblem really had nothing to do with the Formula-S handling package.

It was nothing more than an engine application call-out.

A 1969 Barracuda could be ordered with a 340 engine, but not required to have the
Formula-S package.

On the other hand, the 383, 'was required' to have the Formula-S package, with
E-70 x 14" wide oval tires.

Morgan, exactly rite, here is a very rarely seen advertizement showing that a 340 ordered Barracuda WITHOUT formula-S still had heavy duty suspension but without the formula-S black-out grills and rear finish panel!
