We finally got my '66 dart over to my friends house so he could get busy on the metal work. He's putting together a really nice turbo kit for me. Here are some pics of the build so far. It needs a lot of welding still and some finishes but it's starting to look amazing.

Here is the divided t3 manifold, 1.25" schedule 40 stainless, hopefully the other three runners will be done this weekend

Little snail just hanging around there looking cool while everything gets mocked up

I forgot the exact size of the core, vertical flow helped keep the plumbing neat - hopefully good for 550whp+ (don't know when it'll ever make that :p)

3" cold side and a 2.5" hot side hiding underneath - fits great

Any updates on this REALLY NICE package?

It's a great-looking setup!!!!

Still chugging along, Bill.

All the metal work is done. Everything is out for anodizing and powder coating. It's going to look pretty sweet.

Hopefully the parts will be done with finishes this week and we can start the install. Then comes the carb tuning craziness! Need to put in a tach and wideband this week before that happens.

Want to guess what size jetting I should start with on my 500cfm 2bbl?

I should have an update this weekend :-D

Wideband is a must and your going to need a tach as far as a base line tune I'd start with around 72 jet size and a 6.5 power valve I wouldn't worry about trying to make a brpv till you start pushing in the teens psi of boost
I have 72 in my 650 on the primary metering block and 82 in the rear but I haven't had much tuning time because of the colder weather here in the north.
Set your fuel pressure to 6 psi and just tune from there
Good luck
Aaron

Hey, it's one thing at a time!

Today, I wanted to get the "MSD 6-AL-2" module installed, as the MP orange box just was not doing the job, with random mis-fires happening whenever the boost came on... (only 8 pounds, max)... just not enough voltage at the plug, even with brand new plugs gapped at .030" At least, that's my guess...

We got almost finished with the install, but not quite, so finshing the wiring-connects and a test drive will have to wait 'til tomorrow (Tue.)

I'm excited!

I did take the waste gate off the header and bench-tested it with a hand-held (Mity-Vac) pressure punp and observed the waste gate valve being pulled off its seat at 8 pounds of pressure, so that's why we haven't been able to get more than 8 pounds of boost, so far; the waste gate is doing its job.

At least SOMETHING is working the way it should!

Keep us posted on your progress.

I haven't a CLUE as to jetting on your carb, so get a good wide-band 02 tester and start tuning... The one I have (a F.A.S.T. data-logging single pickup unit,) has proven INVALUABLE in getting the mixture right during this test 'n' tune period of the build and makes me wonder how I ever tuned anything, before, without one. This one is my first.
Seriously... Takes all the guesswork out of jetting.

Now, I'm spoiled... LOL!

We'll get there... it just takes time..

Happy holidays to all!

I got a huge present the day after Christmas, my friend installed the entire turbo kit and got the beast running! Nice surprise! Last I heard we were waiting for stuff to be anodized, then poof, installed!

Anyhow, the engine runs great off the boost. It wants to go lean as soon as the boost hits. I will need to play with the jetting and confirm the boost referenced PV is working.

The fuel pressure gauge appears to have gotten stuck today, I doubt the fuel pressure is the issue - anyhow great value @ $18, thanks summit :p

For just bolting it up the thing cruises great. Idles like stock and handles boost fine up to 4-5psi. Over that it leans out too much to 15-16+ a/f, not good. Hit 10+ psi at that a/f but it didn't feel too good. It has got tons more power in it once I can get that a/f closer to 11.

Here are some pics of the kit installed:

Wow!! some mad skills going on here, and looks like a very clean set up.
will there be any problem of the carb opening to fast ? or are you going to put a long cam/rake on your throttle for a long travel ?
subscribed

it behaves okay right now. i'll have to see once the car can handle full throttle how it responds.

I will be enjoying this as you move forward, Thank you for keeping this thread alive and well :happy1:

Sweet ride i like the look of the way u set it up thats round about what im about to start on with my dart sport what elss do u have done to the motor? Or is it pretty stock?

Love the setup !!!
Tell us about your engine build.
Can not wait to see a vid...

Thanks - I'm digging the build myself.

Here is the engine setup:

'71 225
Molnar H-Beam Rods
Wiseco Pistons, .060 over, .040 below deck 8:5:1 static compression
Oversized valves 1.7/1.44
Mild pocket port and valve job
ARP Head Studs
COMP 252S Cam
904 tranny rebuilt w/ a turbo action shift kit

The engine should be overkill for my current turbo, gt32. Over the next few weeks, or months, lol, I'll be putting in a programmable MSD ignition and tuning the carb.

Then I'm going to need some bigger tires :-D

It's looking good, I'm jealous I only wish I could tune my car Damn michigan weather we have been getting dumped on with snow all day!
Get some video up Anthony I can't wait to here it run and when your ready to start tuning that carb don't hesitate to ask I'm sure we can get it dailed in

Here is a video of the engine running - you have to click on it, couldn't figure out how to embed it into the post.
