i purchased a '70 dart dash for the '69 dart im working on and was wondering if it would fit, and whats involved in such a swap? my only experience with removing a dash was on a 85 chebby truck and it was spot welded to the lip of the windshield. so im wondering if i can i remove the dash in the dart without major surgery?

i got the '70 dash for $30 and would like to make a custom dash thats kind of radical without damaging the original.

You'll most likely have to remove the windshield in order to get to the hardware at the furthest part of the dash. The windshield gasket is covering up the hardware. There are 2 bolts below the A pillars as well. Other than that, disconnect all that applies underneath.

The dashes are different from 69 to 70, the key moved from the dash to the column in 70 so the wiring is going to be different between the two.
You can get the dash out without pulling the windshield. There are 5 screws that are hidden under the windshield gasket that cant be accessed while the glass is in place. You'll have to cut "U" nuts off from the bottom and push whats left of the screw up and out of the dash. Then it's just two bolts above the kick panels, one bolt by the column, disconnect any wiring, heater controls, vacuum lines, pull the steering column out, etc... and the dash should just pull right out as long as there a bunch of butyl spilled on it from windshield installation.

What do you do when you put it back in?

Put the "U" nuts in upside down on the dash intead of the body and screw the dash in from the bottom. You have to use the thin ones that take sheetmetal screws and use short screws so the tips of the screw doesn't push against the windshield gasket.
