What oil pump would you recommend for my engine. Its a 440 with stock stroke steel crank, Eagle rods, speed pro forged flat tops, a Milodon 7" pan that looks like it holds about 7 quarts. I'm using CNC Stealth heads, a Comp extreme energy 292 solid roller which Comp says works good from 3500 to 6600 RPM, a Torker II and an 850 DP carb. I don't know the bearing clearances but the short block was built by a reputable race engine builder. The car will be driven about 500 street miles a year and be taken to 1/4 mile drag strips 4 to 6 times a year. Oh yea I almost forgot, the oil pump pick up hole in the block has been opened up to the larger 1/2 inch size. I do not want to use the external oil line kit, I'm trying to keep it somewhat mundane looking.

Always liked the Milodon HV. Think they dont make it anymore. Might have to just get the Melling HV, or cough up for the billet.

I ordered a Sealed power HV standard pressure pump from Summit. Had good luck with SP products before. Also went with a Mopar performance oil pump driveshaft with hardened ends. Still learning Mopar so advice is good. I know certain engines like Buicks or say Cleaveland Fords have oiling system issues and alot of times people have figure out exactly what to do and what not to do. Thanks for the advice.

I like Sealed Power too. They have a standard and high volume pump for small blocks. tmm

Or, OR!!! .....................you could use this big bad boy. LOL LOL

I ordered the SP pump from Summit so I did see the Milodon billet pumps when I was looking. I don't see what would make the billet pump so much better, I mean as long as the machining and tollerances inside a cast housing pump are good, whats the advantage to having the outside machined also. I've seen the billet pumps for Chevies and I know that on an extreme (high RPM Chevy ) motor the cast pumps sometimes break where they bolt onto the bearing cap, but the way the Chrysler pump is bolted on with 4 bolts I can't see that happening. Also, I'm already over budget so fancy candy like billet oil pumps will push the cost up un neccesarily.
