1971 Dodge Dart Swinger

I just came across a 1971 Dodge Dart Swinger. It was a factory 318 904 8 3/4 rear car with 3.23 gears. It now has decent paint(dark silver) and a 1969 340 w/ rebuilt "J" heads, 69 727 trans, Hooker headers, MSD, aluminum intake, ladder bars, coil over shocks, racing bucket seat, no interior, stock wheel wells, fuel cell with spare tire well removed and flat bottomed, stock dash with wasted stock dash pad. No visible rust except for pencil sized hole on the passenger floorboard and a few pin holes in a very small area on the driver's side where the heel rests when driving. The car needs a battery box, hold down and a battery. Car belongs to a mechanic and he has a 98 Neon R/T and an SRT-4. It has been sitting in a barn for 8 years covered with dust. He washed it for me and it looks decent. Will have to redo brake system from sitting and probably rebuild the carb. He was asking $3500 and I offered him $2,500.00 and he came back with $3,000.00. What do you guys and gals think? By the way, the steel hood has the ugliest homemade hood scoop that I ever saw. I had to talk him down just because of that. Should I pass on $3,000., try to get him down to my $2,500.00 or go for it??
