I am looking to convert my 69 dart over to coil overs up front with the stock k member and get rid of the torsion bars. Not looking to go go tube k member. All I need are the coil overs themselves. What are you guys running for coilovers up front? and where to get them?

Thanks, Cody

Magnumforce has a simple conversion, but without tubular A-arms(like the dilinger setup) or a K-frame, the shocks will have very limited travel and the ride will be terrible.

I'm running varishock. Sold by Alston chassisworks. Qa1 are also good shocks. The magnumforce guys are buddies of mine and make a great product but are very pricey. The owner is very proud of his products and unfortunately likes to hike his prices up and his guys can't do much about it.

Magnumdust- so the dillinger seteup which I have looked at particularly the tube lower control arms do they actually move the lower shock mounting location to allow for shocks with more travel?

Gt mopar- I thought the same thing about the magnum force coil overs. Also I have looked at the Qa1 shocks just not sure what extension and compression length will be needed or what rate coil to run with them.

Thanks, Cody

RideTech has a great shock offering for coil-overs these days, non/single/double/triple adjustable, electronically adjustable... all kinds of fun.

Remember- You WILL need to beef up the upper shock mounting point (Shock tower) to make sure that the inner fender does not warp. I'm not sure what engine you're running or how much you plan to lift the front wheels, but that force will make short work of the stock shock tower mounts.

I welded all of the supports onto my buddy's Dart (he is a member here- FomocoReformed). It was not too difficult, and it will make a huge difference.

Good luck.

AFCO makes a series of shocks for the A-body that have the stab mount for the top. I have their doubles valved for BB A-body cars.
Awesome shock even though i have not gotten any where close to tunning them. They are heavy and the weight of the t-bars and old shocks are not much lighter.

Thanks guys for all of the feedback. Also I am aware that the upper shock tower should be reinforced but thanks for the heads up. I am going to look into the afcos as well I here a lot of good things about them. I will let everyone know what I find out and what works for me.

Thanks, Cody

AFCO 3850M (not 3850) 3850M comes with mounts for coils...

pic with stock stuff and not using coil overs
you can see in the pic on the right side center of the shock I had to cut that pad back some that's on the body... normal ride height and cruising it don't hit but when you pull the wheels like I do if you don't cut that area back the shock body will be hitting it. (pic is with suspension free hanging and clears)

I run a 10" 300lb spring (I have aluminum block) but have seen guys post up 330lb. on summits site they recomend a 12" spring but after talking to several guys they run 10" to get spring on easier. Springs were like $100

That would be perfect thanks. I noticed on afcos website they recommend a 10-12 inch spring. I talked to bob at bobsprofab and those are the shocks he recommended as well because they bolt right into the stock location if need be.
