I dropped out of the A-body scene over 10 years ago after being really into them since the mid-70s. The 64-65 headlight trim bezels were always a bear to find in decent shape. I thought a few years ago when skimming a magazine I noticed a vendor was repopping them but now I can't find any. Was I dreaming, did they go away, or are they out there and I just can't find em? I'm back with a 65 Valiant and the bezels aren't just battered, they're missing..

Thanks for any leads!

PS I've had over 50 early A-bodies including a genuine SCCA A-Sedan Trans Am race 65 Barracuda that I converted to drive on the street in the mid-70s. The 65 I just picked up was apparently built 30 yrs ago or so as an outlaw street racer with a 440. I had to have it as I'd never seen a big block in one of these. If anyone is interested in specs on either of these cars for your own projects I can describe a lot of interesting details and have pics.

I think Laysons might have them. Contact Rick@Laysions by PM. If they have them, he'll know and won't steer you wrong.

The headlight rings are reproduced.

We have them in stock and ready to ship, part# RD-635HB, $179.00 for a single.....or RD-635HBP, $329.00/pair.

We would definitely love to see pics of that 65 with the 440 in it!

.....and it'd probably take you only about a day huh?

Maybe you have not seen the gas caps I make for the early a body cars(http://www.ebay.com/itm/370731438662?ssPageName=STRK:MESOX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1561.l2649) , I have sold more then 500 of them because I make a great product at a reasonable price.
I have been a tool maker/ prototype CNC machinist for almost 26 years now ( 16 years in my own shop) so I know how much components cost to make . For that price I could make them from billet mat LOL !!!!

I have thought about making a custom set out of fiberglass/epoxy. I would paint them body color (white in my case) and install small white lenses with amber LEDs for use as a side marker. On my list of things to do it is very very very far down the list. It would be nice if someone would make an plastic set painted silver for those of us that don't care if it looks resto quality and just want something that isn't dented for a driver.

I bought the Laysons units which are very nice pieces. They look just like the originals except for the clips but the original clips also interchange. Be glad someone makes repros for these non-mainstream cars.

There are some fiberglass ones on the market. Dan posted about them a few years ago.

154.00 for fiber glass or 329.00 for one the are correct for the car. me i would go with the correct one, especially if they fit good. that makes the front of the car that every body sees and you see. just my 2 cents

I picked up a pair of "2nds" at the Mopar Nats a couple of years ago for less than their advertised single price. I couldn't find a thing wrong with them when I compared them to one of my originals

Wow, very cool , $154.00 for the pair shipped sounds like a great deal !!

I'd be willing to bet that price is with shipping WITHIN Australia. International shipping is sure to be a lot higher.

X2 - My "2nds" look and fit perfectly.

I had a pair of Layson's on my wagon. They fit and looked great.

Thanks for all the responses! Colorado's big annual indoor swap-meet is coming up Feb 9 where I'll see if I get lucky and find some bezels. If not I'll be looking at the Layson parts. When I get a chance I'll put some pics on the forum showing the 440 install in the 65 Valiant.

I got a set of repro fibreglass bezels for mine and am more than happy with the finished look, mine i got from Queensland Valiant Spares.

I haven't ever bought anything from this site, and I'm not backing it up at all, but I was just searching it and it says $95 for a pair of 64/65 Barracuda/Valiant headlight bezels.
