That is a great car, How far do you go with the "correct" and "restoration" is up to the person who owns the car, and who may buy it.

Shouldn't this be in the general discussion area if we're gonna pick on it?

Personal pet peeve: "Professional Restoration" with nasty original wiring.

I won't go into the "correct 340/275hp" engine. I want that factory single plane and double pumper for my Valiant restoration.

The original poster is not the one selling this car. So it's not really a For Sale ad anyways.

I believe that a lot of cars are advertised as being correctly restored
but the real truth is...... very few are.
The problem is most people (owners) don't do their homework and research
things fully. They just go by word of mouth which most times are
wrong and not accurate.
I have a 1971 Demon 340 clone. It's not perfect for sure but I don't
claim it to be.

And nothing wrong with making a car not 100% OE or with modifications.

But when asking top dollar the quality, correctness, or level of modifications should match that price.

BTW on a J54 Hood Blackout 71 Demon, do the scoop bezels get painted black or left chrome. I've seen pictures both ways.

Is the hood blackout all painted on or is the pin stripe a decal?

Is the paint flat black or organisol (little gritty like T/A-AAR hoods)?

Steve: On my Demon I went with the chrome bezels because
I like the way it looked compared to the black bezels. I too have seen
it both ways. I believe on the 340 cars they should be black from the factory.
I'm not sure though. I just like them chrome.
The black out hood is (painted) not a decal and it is flat black.
I altered my hood blackout pattern, it's contour near the front of the hood
is not factory correct but I think it works so that is why it was painted that
way. Not many people notice the slight variation so it must look okay.

Is the kink that follows the hood edge on the outsides edges the variation? Only staring at it because you mentioned it.

Great looking car. IMHO, radiator support black out behind you grille would just help a tiny little bit to an already awesome looking car. Sorry for being a bug.

Friend just got a numbers matching original sheetmetal 71 FY1 340 Demon console auto that someone added an original scooped hood to. But hood was not painted black.

Yes the variation is the outside leading edge. Picture of correct
contour and mine in comparison.

I like the yellow showing through the grille...I know it's incorrect. :)

I actually think you way looks better. But it looks so natural I would not have noticed unless you mentioned the pattern was different.

If you like it, run it.

I like it blacked out whether stock or even a complete modified car. Makes your eyes look and search at what's behind grille instead of focusing on the grille.

What do they mean 14x7 correct wheels? I have heard time and time again that 14x5.5 wheels are correct for 340 cars.

It is a nice car..but to much at $31k.

My rims are 14x5.5
I don't think they fill the rear wheel wells.......very "well"
I'm thinking of getting some custom rallyes (14x7) for my car.

Try Wheel Vintiques. They have 15X8 in small bolt rallyes and there are caps and rings there for them too. Powdercoated and at about $120 a piece they are not badly priced either. They have 4 5/8 backspace and 275X60X15 tires on them will fill them rear wells up without having to hackup or raise the back up the car up

Wow! that's a sweet ride! I had a '72 that looked just like it. Another in a long line of cars I should've hung on to!

I like the way the hood stripes look on your car Wilson and the way it should've came from factory too me.

The one that everyone is talking about is a nice car and not worth their asking price since some of the things mentioned on it are incorrectly done. I see in my opinion a $15,000 to maybe $20,000 car. I still like it even if it isn't correct......shoot I know mine isn't.

Beautiful car!
On an A body the quality will determine the price and it is worth 30 all day.
Now on an AAR or A12 the numbers and correctness will make a difference.

Nice car but he is Drunk on the price. You can get a 68-70 RR done pretty darn nice for around the same price. The RR will always hold its value better than a 71 Demon.
