Here's the thread Cuda asked for....

Any chance you can tell us what you designed this around? From my memory it's a AlterKtion with T56 trans...

What else do we need to mindful of if we choose to order one?

Riddler

Thanks for setting this up Riddler. I prefer to keep something like this separate from my build thread, as this thing could go "viral"!! LOL

So after reviewing my build thread, I show the following members interested:

5.7 hemi
johnparts
funkyflynz
tincup
Riddler
jeffneal66

My question would be, just how interested? Mine was built a few years ago for in the $500-$525 range. I would imagine it would be in the $525-$575 range now? Let's say it's $550-$600? Just how interested is everybody?

For a couple of quick dimension references:

From the block's pan rail (including the factory gasket/windage tray in place) to the outside, bottom of the front of the pan is 2". This 2" section goes back 5 1/2" from the front pan bolts (in the timing cover) before starting to slant downward toward the sump. At the back, the outside, bottom of the rear sump is 6".

I'll do my best to get through to the proper people at Moroso this week to get this thing started and see where it goes. I have no interest in getting too involved in this effort or to profit from it. I'm happy to confirm if they the dimensions in their (computer / CAD ) system, or whatever means they use. I can pick their brain as to how much one will cost today, especially if they can whip out a half dozen at the same time. From there, I'll just post up the name and contact number at Moroso and whatever reference they want to ID this pan with (part number?) so everyone is talking about the same part.

I'll get back to y'all...

Riddler,
I have an AlterKtion; TTI full length headers designed to go with the AlterK; Lakewood scattershield with driver side starter; TKO600 5sp.

I would definitely be interested for under $600. I may need a slight design change at the front of the pan but I can probably do that once it's in my hands

I worked on my car this weekend, and I was able to get the power rack in without hitting my Canton pan. So, I'm out..

Any chance you could give us the measurement from the top of the pans rail down to the lowest point of the sump, i need to know how much ground clearance it will give me at the lowest point

It has a internal oil pickup. Moroso modifies a stock (truck) pickup (rear sump) tube and installs a boxed end. I'll hunt up mine in the box and take a pic.

The lowest point of the pan is 6". This is essentially the whole rear sump area, measured from the block's pan rail to the outside bottom of the sump...

Cool, the stock pan i have is 7.5", so i will get an additional 1.5" ground clearance!

I am IN, as this is exactly what I was thinking about doing myself! I will be using a 2004 5.7 truck engine with an Alterkation and custom headers.

If this hasn't started by Feb 10, I'll call Moroso and see about it. I'm off for vacation this week.

If the original designer doesn't step up I'll call Moroso and see about getting more pans made and some prices for a group buy. They may not even do a group buy.

That would be appreciated.:thumbrig:

Wow Riddler, what the hell kind of rude post is that? "If the original designer doesn't step up"? I find this very offensive. I told y'all last Sunday I would do this and have made several phone calls and a couple of emails this week to get the details finalized by Friday afternoon. Moroso is at their busiest time of year and I myself am very busy at work. Geez man, if you want more "EXPRESS" service than that, you better just buy something off the shelf from Summit or Jeg's.

So for everyone who may be interested now or those who may see this in the future and be interested, I'm going to take a picture for you of the oil pick up tube they modified and post up all the info later today or sometime tomorrow. (forgive me Riddler if it ends up being AFTER the Super Bowl)

johnparts and funkyflynz,
Yes, that's a Jeep pan funkyflynz has. The 5.7 Jeep and 6.1 Jeep pans are different from each other, the difference being visible on the passenger side, so I can't tell from the pic shown. Either way, they both hang down pretty low in an A-body (I've tried BOTH of them in my original quest to use "factory only" parts)

Thanks for your efforts bro, really appreciate you not only helping us out but coming up with such an awesome pan in the first place, its your attention to detail and hard work that we are trying to piggy back off.

I think you read more into it than what I ment. We hadn't heard you had made phone calls and emails. My appologies, I know alot of us are excited (me included). My post was in no way made out to offend you. If it has my appologies once again. Please forgive me as I like to get right to the point on things and not beat around the bush.

Thank you for contacting Moroso and finalizing details.

PM heading your way.

Riddler

Riddler, I can't read your post without getting peeved about it. I think a more appropriate post might have been "Hey CudaSRT8, got any progress to report?" That too would be getting to the point and not beating around the bush. Anyway, enough said on this. Your apology is accepted.

Let's move on to the purchase info. Since this post went a little sideways, I'm going to start a fresh one with a full description of application; some dimensions and as many pics as I have, including the pickup. Please refer to my new thread titled - PURCHASE INFO - CUSTOM Moroso Gen.3 Hemi oil pan by Cuda SRT8
Thanks
