While stripping my car down for paint I noticed that my door panels, arm rests, and rear seat was painted. Looked like it was spray bombed. They missed the underside of the door panels and the very back of the rear seat (the part that curls into the trunk area). Im suprised that this did not peel off! Is there a special paint to buy so that I can finish this off or should I look at new panels and such?

Also since we are on painting I would like to repaint my column and dash. I've hear of buying SEM Paint (I think thats what its called). What do you all recommend?

Use a Vinyl die like SEM or DuplaColor. Summit has the SEM if it's not available off your local parts pusher.

SEMs Landau black is cloest to correct. What is on the dash and column is a suede finish.
I saw it advertised somewhere recently but I forget where. Drt spray the final coat of the SEMs gets very close.

Sorry but I dont understand what your saying here. I bought the paint just want to make it look good. Also is this paint something I can use to paint the dash, column and such???

TYpo I meant dry spray the final coat on the dash metal and column to get close to the factory suede finish.

By dry spray you mean, don't spray it on heavy so it has that wet look?

Exactly. The SEMs product is really just a laquer based paint with additives in it. It'll dry in a heartbeat. To get the right look on the dash metal you'll want to back the can away for the last coat and put it on right after the previous wet coat. Otherwise the dry coat will wipe off like dust.
Since spray bombs often have a wax plug in the pickup tube to extend shelf life you should always shoot the first bit on scrap, practice on your scrap.

Thanks for the pointers Redfish! I bought the Landau black and will eventually get to painting my dash frame...frickin expensive tho we pay $20/can up here!!

I painted mine until I can afford new interior. Cleaned well and then used an adhesion promoter prior to painting. Used cheap vinyl paint from Pep Boys. Shows some wear in typical areas... will need a touch-up soon.
