What size tire / wheel will fit in the spare wheel well and sit low enough to cover with the "board" and be flush? I'm running the 5 on 4-1/2 pattern.

I have never found any full size spare that fit correctly that wasn't a 13". You might get a temp spare that would fit the bill.

...probably a 'get me homer'
but it should be as tall as your rear tires if you have a sure grip
i think some Crown Vics might work for a 27" tire and i think some are alum too.

Bias ply 6.50x13 I think will make for a flat trunk floor.

I have a 14 x 4 in wide(narrow) 4 1/2 pattern spare steel wheel which will help Mount a narrow 14" tire on it and it should fit OK

To expand on what Oklacarcollecto, mentioned.....

Unless it was some early "A"with the smallest wheel/tire combo, the cover board never sat flat with the trunk floor, from the factory.

I have a factory E70-14 on a stock wheel in my trunk and it sticks up.

easyrider, Check out the photos.
I found these spares in late 80's RWD Chrysler 5th Ave and Diplomats(Grand Furys) 4 1/2 bolt pattern, fits disc brakes and gives you a nice flat floor.$10 bucks at the wrecking yard.Even gives you room for spare parts down there. The photos are from my 63 Valiant.

I have a factroy spare out of a duster, still has ink and tits, never on the ground, and it doesn't sit low enough for the board to be flat

Think it is a D 78 14 whitewall, need to check date code, think it is out of a 73, just remember for sure it was a yellow duster and was wondering why it was in the junkyard. But this has been many years ago and they were getting ready to crush their old stuff

Paid $20

Thanks guys, this is the info I was looking for. I think I can find something that will work. I really want the floor to be flat.
