A couple of 69 barracuda questions

-
Good luck with that repop tail panel, I have one here I can't use its made out of aluminum as thin as paper. It will bend out of shape just looking at it and Metro never gave me my money back for the piece of junk. All of the panels aftermarket suppliers are selling are coming from Metro.

I got to see and feel one these prior to buying and opted to find a better "previously used" one I belive can be restored with minimal effort. The emblem is peened over from the rear. This is a one off 69 only emblem that is very hard to find!!!!!

pic of the rear factory piece.

Here's a picture I found on the inter net of the badge placement.

How would it get peened over without damaging the panel??

Thanks
Steve

Wow Bill, I have never seen that on a 68..especially the door panel...dad has that no his 67 and is only on the deluxe interior...Thanks!! So am I losing my marbles, but is there wood grain on the bottom part to the bezel as well??

Steve in dad's '67 the wood grain was part of the decor pkg,
wood grain on dash bezel and door panels, rear arm rests w/ ash trays, 150 speedo, and chrome trim on gas, brake, clutch pedals.

I think I would JB weld it on the back. Or maybe JB weld AND put a slice down the middle of the very end of the pins with a jewelers saw. Then very carefully bend each sliced end over just a little as a fail-safe. It would not have to totally hold the emblem tight. Just keep it from falling off if the JB weld fails.

Just a thought.

With the panel being so thin I'd would not try to peen it over as it comes.

At least in 1968, I don't think the Decor package included the woodgrain door panels that were part of the Deluxe interior option.

the 67 tail panel b-cuda script is peened/ pressed/ mushroomed?
As mentioned, try using barrel clips which is kind of an insert that the emblem pushes into and expands to hold it on. they look like this and can be had at most part stores for a couple bucks.

Good idea!!

How about these with a dab of JB Weld after they are on?

Yep I would think they should work with the BJ weld

they were part of the decor pkg, the 150 speedo and wood grain dash were a different option in 68 it appears.

That is what I was thinking about when I asked about space between the finish panel and the trunk lid. I have a feeling that is a really tight space and that may be why the factory peened them.

I guess easy to tell would be to put the panel on with a couple nuts, or hold it on, and push the emblem through with nothing there and see if it goes in all the way or bottoms out? those clips you posted last would like work fine JB wouldn't be necessary with those. They do hold pretty firm.

Maybe stick some worked play dough on the trunk lid and then put the finish panel against it.
That should work like plasti-gauge.

Those clips are not easy to get off when you want them off and no one is just
going to pop the emblem off at a car show either.

This shows the door panels were part of the Decor Package as you said in the last post.

I guess I was considering that Deluxe Interior because it came with the deluxe seats.

What I was thinking of was the Sport Group that just gave you the 150 speedo and wood grain dash insert, wood grain steering wheel. Or just the Rallye Insturments that gave you 150 speedo and wood grain dash insert.

My 68 convertible came with the Burlwood door panels and dash but only had a 120 mph speedometer. It is a 318, Auto, ps, pb and ac car.

The only thing I am absolutely positive about MaMopar is that you can never be sure about anything.

I like that idea better than slicing the pin in the middle and bending the tabs over.

Might have to try to put them on in reverse if the pin doesn't stick though very much.

That makes sense to me.

Your car had Interior Decor Group and that makes the wood dash fascia on the cluster whether 120 or 150 speedo.

You would get a 120 mph speedo with wood dash fascia if you got the Sport Group too.

Or if you got Rallye Instruments with 150 mph speedo you get wood dash fascia.

Formula S automatically got Rallye Instruments 150 speedo, so I think all those has wood grain dash fascia??

But we are getting off track with the original poster's question about 1969 Barracuda's. Where these same groups availible in 1969??

It looks like the same thing for 1969 was carried over from 1968. But I do not see than the wood grained fascia insturment cluster was included in the Interior Decor Group. But that could be an error.
