Just got done painting the trunklid on my 65 dart gt conv. All in all im really happy with the way it laid down and my body work is lazer straight. Being that i didnt have a booth to shoot it in it came out pretty damn good. Im hoping to do the doors and hood soon, then im going to roll the rest of the body into a rented booth and finish shooting it. The reason im doing it piece by piece is that its a bit difficult for me being that im in a chair to tackle everything at one time. Doing one piece at a time gives me the chance to take my time and cut and buff each piece to perfection. Yea dirt is a factor but since shooting it ive 1500-2000-2500 grit sanded it and im hoping to finish buffing it tomorrow. It looks really sleek without the dodge emblems. The only thing people staring at my trunklid will be seeing eventually will be tire smoke. Sorry for the chitty pictures it mas from my phone at night. Buffed pictures tomorrow with good camera.

Looks pretty darn good from here. You can see the reflection of the stuff in the garage pretty clearly.

Right on thanks guys! It's slowly getting done! All I need now is to get running gear sorted out and get it all slammed together.

I have painted in pieces before, it gets all the edges. Then after putting together put 2 coats on the outside and all is well. anything can be sanded out later.

Dang ! looks pretty darn good from here too! AWESOME job and I know the rest will look just as awesome! have fun with your car!

Looks great! When do you want to do mine? LOL tmm

Yea you got that right. Sometimes doing a full car all at once you end up getting dry spots on the edges, where when its disassembled you can get plenty of clear evenly distributed in all the hard to reach places. I got 6 coats of clear on it total with 3 coats of base.

Looks perfect , Congratulations I miss the smell of clear coat :D

Good work, looking like glass. I think you have a good approach going there. BTW, like the T-28 foamie too.

Ha! Thanks, yea aside from building hot rods I've been flying rc for 25 years and have competed professionally in pylon racing and heli competitions. That's 1 of about 20 I own. It's pumped waaay up damn near rip the wings off at full throttle! Ha!

Thanks to all you guys for the kind words. Been a while since I've painted a full car and I've also missed the smell of clear. Next I'm going to get back on doing airbrush work.

Looks good. I all ways paint in pieces. So no worries there. You can get a much better job just as you decribed doing your car that way. I start sanding the clear with 1000 to make sure its cut flat then 1500 and a quick cleen up with 2000. Keep rolling your way ahead of me right now.
Tim

Ive never cut clear with 1000 but that makes perfect sense. Ill give that a shot, god knows i have enough clear on it.

hey gt what kind of gun do you use?i like tospray them seperate to unless it's a metallic.....:glasses7:

Finishline is the one I used to spray that one. I've got several different ones. I've got a couple Iwata's and a Sata. I like the way the Finishline feels.

I'm waiting for the booth to get freed up so I can shoot the body. It's going a lot slower than I was hoping. Been working on my hardtop a lot lately so I can race it sept 9th at sac mopar muscle madness.

Awesome. And from a chair. Impressive.

Well done and very impressive. Can't wait to see when that puzzle is all together if the trunk looks that nice
