I believe my slant six 68 Barracuda has a power steering box. the motor/trans are out and long gone. It has two hoses coming out of it but does not look exactly like the ones I see for sale. I'd post a pic of mine if I had the tech and know how. I am still learning all this stuff. If anyone can post a pic of 68 power steering box, I'd appreciate it.

If it has hoses, it's power.
Someone might have swapped it for another year or model unit.

I liked the first part of your answer and the second made my yell NO!!! I know nothing about suspensions and all but I plan to dive in and learn my way through and got my fingers crossed I won't be thrown too many curve balls. I looked up power steering boxes for this car and there aren't too many. For some reason manual boxes cost way more. I wish I could post a picture but dont' know how and I'm an over the hill buzzard. I think my daughter has the right type of camera and then with some help, I might be able to do this.

That doesn't help a little, that helps A LOT! In fact, that might me exactly what I'm looking at for mine. Dang, if I wasn't at work giving an American history test, I could be running to the garage with your great pics and I'll bet it is the same. Now I have to wait until the work day is over, I find some gas I can afford, and zip home to compare. Wow, this is great. I really appreciate it. This is the best forum I've ever been associated with.

Is your car B5 blue? Mine is UU1 which is a super light metallic blue. I'm actually thinking of changing it. Yeah, lots of work but, the drive train is out and the interior is black so other colors work. It needs no sheet metal, floors, and the trunk is close to perfect. I towed it from California when I fled the west coast back in 90'.

That is it! I copied your pictures, raced home flung the garage door up and that is it to a T. Thanks for the help. I am making a mental plan and list that I will commit to paper as to what I should do before the engine swap. I am thinking torsion bars, rebuilding the front end, all that. Heck no I don't know what I'm doing but I am want to start anyway. Is there a book that explains how to do this? I've got restoration books on motors but not suspensions. I am getting the Mancini tools that cover all the front suspension parts. I can use them when I get to my 66 Valiant convertible someday...Again, thanks so much for the help.

Check around and get a FSM (Factory Service Manual). You might find one on ebay or find it on disc on ebay. Just about everything you will need to know to work on your cars.

You'll find most info here, if you search the appropriate threads, and ask a few questions..

There are a lot of member builds with pics, showing every aspect of repair, modification, and instances of shear brilliance...

The color of mine is QQ1 electric blue poly with black interior. It would have had a black stripe down the lower body according to the build sheet I found under the back seat and parts of one in the back of one of the bucket seats.

It was repainted due to rear quarter damage before I got it.

Again glad I could help.
