I bought a 71 dart and had the motor rebuilt. 360 magnum. Best guess is 400+ HP. I have a holley 650 4150 on an rpm air gap manifold. When I bought it, it had a 750 holley and a fuel pressure regulator. Do I need to keep the regulator? What are the pros and cons ??? The one that was on it (B&M) I think is shot and I'm not sure spending the extra $100.00 plus dollars is worth it.

Replace the regulator and adjust for about 6.5 lbs for your Holley. Some fuel pumps have them built in and some do not. What fuel pump are you running?

if you don't run one, fuel pump pressure can creep up and override the float and needle and flood your crankcase with fuel.
 
Are you using a electric fuel pump? If not then you don't need the regulator.If you are using electric pump then you do.
 
The fuel pump is a new carter street strip. Part # m6270

Those pumps are rated at up to 8-9 psi. You should be running a regulator set between 5 to 6.5 psi. Anything over that can overpower your needle and seat on the carb - and it will happen causing problems you don't want. Don't bother with the cheap (Spectre) inline regulators.
