67 and up slant 6 needed

Is there a way I can verify this without actually looking at the crank register? Casting numbers?

Ok..I JUST WENT THROUGH THIS!
67 and down: small crank register hole, "small snout" converter.
68 and up: large crank register hole and "large snout" converter

The newer "large snout" converter will NEVER go into the 67 down small hole crank, so you cannot use a new transmission on an old motor without changing the crank.

The 67 "small snout" transmission will fit right into the big hole on the 68 up cranks, but it will slop around and destroy the transmission front pump. Many people (including Charrlie on this site) sell an aluminum bushing that will allow you to put the old trans into the new motor.

BTW, forget swapping converters too! The 67-68 904 main shaft changed!
