As some of you know, I put in and tested for a deputy sheriff position and passed those. I then, have been waiting to hear back for a background check which furthers the hiring process. I've been waiting now for at least 2 months.

Well, I got the call today to further that process. Had to go down and pick up my background check/ polygraph test booklets. I worked on those things from around 4pm till 10:30!!! Still not done. lol They're due back by 4pm Wednesday!

I was told from my friend on the force that he thinks they're going to be starting another Academy in April or May, so hopefully I make it!!

Thanks!! Oh, and not to mention, as I went to start my car to leave the Sheriff's office my battery was dead.
The final result is my alternator took a dump and drained the battery. By the time I got home, none of the turn signals, lights would work and the wipers barely worked.

And of course we had that freak snowstorm come in as my wife pulled up so I could jump the Valiant. lol

From what I hear, after the background/poly test it's all downhill really fast from there. We'll see though. Fingers crossed. :)

Congratulations!!! Glad to see you have passed the first step and on
your way to the big one to be behind you, stay warm and keep moving forward and finnish this background/poly test, fingers crossed and hope all goes well and we hear you are in and ready for the April classes

Hey that's great news! Good luck on the rest of the process.

UPDATE:

Got a call yesterday saying they are starting my background investigation. And boy, they sure are on top of things!
They've already called all my references and when he called he scheduled the "in-home" interview for today at 4:30.
The deputy showed up and I recognized him from the written exam...he was one of the guys making sure noone was cheating.
He came in and immediately made his way to the kitchen table and sat down. Asked me about 10 in-depth questions, then asked my wife around 15 or so questions.
Pretty cool guy actually and we have a lot in common. My wife and I are both Bible College students and it just so happens that his wife is a Bible College student at another College here in town!! What are the odds of that?!!

Then he interviewed the neighbors next to us and the neighbor downstairs. Before he left I pointed out the Valiant and he asked me to come down so he could check out the car!! Gave the car a lookover and asked questions about it for about 10 min or so. Asked about the engine and originality of the car and stuff.

Overall my wife and I felt it went well but....who knows. Hopefully it did...keeping fingers crossed and just leaning on the Lord.
Next up is the CVSA...Computer Voice Stress Analysis....AKA lie detector. If I pass the background.

Once you get the job, and I know you will, if you see a middle aged guy blasting around on an old jap bike, please cut me some slack. :)

Great news and best of luck. I would not be able to make it past the neighbor interviews myself.
