Wondering what type of oil I should use for my stock bottem end 340, stock heads .484 cam and flat top pistons. Has non roller cam and will see track time for sure ... I want to be able to buy it places like autozone, walmart , napa or oreilly. I dont want to order. Thanks

What type of lifters?

I use Valvoline VR1 Race Oil, 10w-30, since it has higher zinc levels for my solid lifters. If it's warmer by you, you may want to run 20w-50, but it's up to you.

I love it, and you can get it at Napa or Auto Zone for ~$6.00/qt.

What color is that, my car was originally blue thinking of painting it blue if I dont sell

Do you mean in my build thread? That's a B5 blue spec'd by a local body shop, who said it was listed under "True Blue". I forget which brand, but I can look up more details if you'd like.

I just got it back and can't wait to cruise.

X2 on the VR-1 race oil, I've been using it for years and never had an issue.

Where do they sell Brad Penn? I can't get it at any of my local shops.
I can get Amsoil, but I'd rather save the $$ for things like gas and tires, both of which seem to burn up faster than my oil lol

I use synthetic oils... Mobil 1, Royal Purple, Valvoline... you can add a zinc additive if you need to. Warning... if you have small leaks, the synthetic oil seems more likely to expose them. At least that is the experience I had.

Thanks guys I went to Autozone and all they had is VR1 and Royal . 8.99 a quart for the royal so I went with the VR1 for 5.99

Mobil 1 full syn 5qt jug at walmart for ~$25. It's what I put In all my motors. That said you should add a zinc additive to your oil. Roller cam it an dont worry about it.
