63 Dart front disc m/cyl?

Hi Guys

I'm going to be installing disc brakes on the front of my 63 Dart. I have already purchased a complete brake and control arm set up from a 67 Cuda, but need clarification on the best route to go with the master cylinder.

should I just go with a manual cylinder and if so, which would you recommend? or the more bulky power brake setup which will take up even more room in the already "cramped" engine bay?

Any advice would be welcome.

I have put 1980 Aspen disc brakes to my 1964 Dart and used Dart 1973-76 model upper control arms and manual (not power) master brake cylinder. Combo works just fine. (See my photo gallery.)
 
Thanks for the advice, Just to confirm, the M/Cyl was from the 73/6 Dart? and did you use or need a proportioning valve?

Yes, you need a p-valve. Just get one from any pre-80's disc brake car or buy a adjustable unit from Summit.
 
Iwould think as long as you have the right pedal ratio I would stay with non power
I belive. Its 5 to 1 for power and 8 to 1 non power. And I want to say that some
Brake pedals have both hole drilled in the already...but I could be wrong.
 
I think it is only GM's that have 2 holes in the pedal. For power brakes, their booster inclines upward. I put a booster/MC in my 65 Dart and used the existing pedal.

Many people are fine with manual brakes with front disks. Use an MC with ~7/8"D bore. You can use a newer 2-bolt aluminum MC if you buy a ~$35 adapter plate. Some people just drill 2 holes in the firewall & bracket. I got an adjustable proportioning valve for $28 recently w/ Jegs logo. I re-used my factory distribution block as a front "tee" (see posts).

If you want a power booster, there is a fairly affordable one on ebay now ~$150 (see posts).

Yes m/cyl is similar to 73-76/SL6 Dart with non power disc brakes and proportion valve is from that -80 Aspen
