Ok... I'm first and foremost a Mopar fan...but like many of you guys, I just love muscle cars and will give a look at a product no matter the nameplate.

Oh my god, the new Z/28 has me drooling.

"Powered by Chevrolet's 7.0-liter LS7 small block V8 (also found in the C6 Corvette), the 2014 Camaro Z/28 looks to offer massive track performance above and beyond the already capable 1LE. Chevy hasn't released official power ratings yet, saying only that the Z/28 will deliver "at least 500 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque" – the supercharged 6.2-liter LSA found in the ZL1 dispenses 580 horsepower, so the track-focused Z/28 probably won't be the most powerful Camaro on offer.

Perhaps more importantly, curb weight is down 300 pounds compared to the ZL1 thanks to a comprehensive lightweighting program, including thinner rear glass and lighter wheels and making air conditioning an option. Chevy says that the weight cut and the institution of substantial chassis and braking changes are good enough to cut a whopping three seconds per lap off of the ZL1's times, though it hasn't specified what circuit it has been tested on."

Why can't Dodge/SRT get into this game?!?!?! I dearly love the current generation Chargers and Challengers. They're flat out not competitive in terms of performance and it kills me. :banghead:

Mopar General Discussions

Take a look at any of these threads currently on the main page and I think you'll see that there is plenty of tangentially relevant Mopar discussion going on...

...besides, I think competition is very relevant! Do you guys think that SRT should be in the game of competing with Ford and Chebby these days?

Lot's of non specific Mopar Chat that on this forum...currently on the main page:

so it's still hideous, and still not fast enough to outrun the ugliness it carries? Wow.

oh, except now it's covered in the even uglier matte finish that's so popular now lol.

Thats why i drive a LS3 Vette, and not a SRT8.

Yep... I can see the argument for that.

The Vette is a great example of why it's a bad idea to be too loyal to one brand. There is just no answer to the Vette's performance:dollar ratio. Those cars are just incredible and easily beat machinery that costs 2x as much. If they made a budget SRT392 powered Viper, we might have more of a dilemma. :D

If Chevy do offer non A/C cars why Dodge can´t?

Sometimes it just takes a precedent. If the Z/28 is a success, maybe we'll see a Challenger T/A with no AC, and other meaningful weight reductions!

Well, the car didn't make me $hit my pants but the above comment almost did LMAO :D

I see nothing new here. GM has pitted Corvette owners against Camaro owners many times before.
The matte finish... Just a ploy slash fad like vinyl tops. Saves the mfgr time and money as long as the public will accept it. The key is to get 100 people to say, "I like it' so 100 million more will say, "I do too".

At least they changed the taillights.....I hated the previous style ones. And optional A/C?! That's HUGE in my book!! I like it. I wish cars could still be specially ordered up like the old days! That is the exciting part, IMO.

I think you're right here but it's not such a bad thing. Almost everything about the way our cars look is subjective. One reason to latch onto a styling device is as good (or lame) as any other in my opinion.

Many of us have vinyl stripes on our cars...at some point a handful of people thought it was cool and started the trend.

I didn't need to change my undies...

I'm not a big fan of any of the resurrected Challengers, Mustangs, and Camaros. In fact, I like the Camaro the least.
Big deal, another high tech modern supercar.

These cars lack the look, feel, and vibe of the originals and are priced in the stratosphere.

The Camaro is Sweet. It's a little less dressed up with creature comforts, than the Challenger.
My goal is to buy one of each of the new "ponies". An R/T Challenger, an SS Camaro, and an Mustang GT, Put them into storage with some occasional driving, and leave them to my three children.

LUCKY kids!!! :D

They're going to fight over the Mustang GT. It's that DAMN good.

Looks and style (and heritage), Challenger wins. Driving dynamics, the GT is the complete package.

I think I sense a theme here..........that you think it is down right fugly......which it most certainly is....I do have one question for you Sir, would anything be quick enough to out run its ugliness?

I have two sons and a daughter. If I can make this goal work, there shouldn't be too much of an argument. My oldest son likes the RT, and my middle son like the GT. My daughter would like the SS. If I can make this happen, it will all work out. lol

i don't like the new camaro -at all. Performance wise, I think the mustang is on top, and has good looks. The new challenger of course looks the best, but lags in everything else. it needs a supercharged 7 liter 426ci Gen III Hemi, and about 600 pounds of weight to shed to be competitive.
