Springfling Vegas Race

Well it is going to happen! Kyle had told me earlier in the year that they were considering/working on bringing a big bucks race to the west coast similar to there back east deal that they have ran for the last 3 years.

Here is part of there news release:

For the past three years, the team of Peter Biondo and Kyle Seipel have produced the K&N Spring Fling 20s presented by Sparco in Bristol, Tennessee. The annual
event has become a must-attend for a growing number of bracket racers from all across the country.

Now following in the footsteps of this country’s early settlers who pursued the adage of “Go West, young men,” Biondo and Seipel will host the K&N Spring Fling Vegas on the weekend of April 11-14, 2013 at The Strip at Las Vegas Speedway.

Part of the success of their event has always been the hands-on approach both Biondo and Seipel take. Seipel said, “We’ve attended a number of high-dollar events ourselves and know what the racers like and we try to be as fair as possible in every decision we make. We are really appreciative of all of those who have attended our Bristol event over the years and made it so successful, but we’re constantly being asked when we’re going to run a west coast race. Well, now is the time and what better place than The Strip At Las Vegas Motor Speedway.”

Part of the success of the Bristol event is what’s termed as the 1,000’ Compromise, where all the races are contested at 1,000’ length in length. Seipel said, “We did that to appease both the quarter- and eighth-mile racers and everyone really seems to enjoy it, so we’re going to continue that practice here.”

While the Bristol Spring Fling hosts three races with $20,000 to win and a Thursday warm up race with racers competing in only one class, the Spring Fling Vegas will feature two classes, Super Pro and Pro. Super Pro racers will be allowed all electronics, while the Pro class will follow typical west coast non-electronic rules. In Super Pro, dragsters and door cars will run separately until the ladder round of 16 cars. Racing will take place on all four days, with three days of $10,000 to the winner of Super Pro and $3,000, $5,000, $3,000 for the Pro Champions. On Warm-Up Thursday, the winners will walk away with $3,000 and $1,500 respectively. And as is the usual Biondo/Seipel custom, all of the payouts are 100% Guaranteed.

Following the traditions set at the K&N Spring Fling 20s, in addition to the payout, over $20,000 in Hardcore Racer Appreciation Prizes from a variety of sponsors will be awarded to racers throughout the event. A Saturday night Biondo and Seipel Party will feed and entertain all contestants and crew. The popular 32-car Shootouts will also take place. Live audio, video and timing will also be available online to tease those who can’t make to the event. Special Spring Fling Vegas rules will apply in that two drivers can enter the same car and one driver may drive two cars but one driver cannot double enter the same car.

“We’re really excited about this race,” Seipel said. “The racers have asked for it and here it is. The weather that time of year in Vegas is great and there’s no better city than this to run a true bracket racing gambler’s type of event.”

Now I need to figure logistics of making this and Mopars at the strip and hopefully leaving my truck/trailer or just trailer down there for 2 extra weeks as both of these races are a must do for me.

I do not know why they are only giving 1 time run on Fri and Saturday and no time runs on Sunday. That only helps the Vegas racers and is not friendly to the people who have limited time on that track. Other than that it should be a good event. We are taking the Dart and Lisa and I are doubling up in Pro Et with it.

two time runs on saturday...stiff head wind and cold..

not time runs on sunday ...no wind and warm...

Sonoma is the same way. You may think you have it figured out by Sunday but the changing conditions will keep you guessing. I have raced Sonoma for over 25 years and I have alot of logged data so i can usually dial our cars no matter what the conditions are.

Hi Ian. Lisa is doing great. She had a stroke last June at the racetrack which lead to open heart surgery to remove a tumor. Thanks for asking and your car is looking great.

Steve,
Hello. I am happy to hear that you and Lisa are making the trip to Vegas. Peter and I are excited to show the West Coast the product we have. We are over $38,000.00 in Racer Appreciation Awards for the weekend to be given out to all of the contestants.

As far as the time runs go I completely understand what you are saying, but with the 350-400 entries we are expecting there is just not enough time to have two time sessions and finish the race at a decent hour. It will take roughly 3 1/2 hours to complete each time run session and allowing just one time run we forecast the finals to be run between 9.00-10.30pm on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. If you add 3 1/2 hours to that the race turns into a marathon.

We look forward to seeing you guys in Vegas.

If anyone one the forum might have any questions please call me on my cell phone, 510.912.4160. See you guys in Vegas April 11-14.

Thanks for the reply Kyle. Should be a great event and It will probably be our alternative to the ET finals. We have raced the Boise Night Fire Nationals many times so I know all about running into late hours of the night. Were looking forward to being there. Steve
