I took a dash pad off a Dart with the tach mounted to the pillar. The tach had laid against the pad and left an indention over the years, so you may want to make sure that tack isn't resting on the pad. Mines a nice spare pad for my 68s and it still has that indention after almost 10 years of sitting.
