Okay people I need your expertise one more time !

I have no reverse or tail lights ?

All fuses replaced - all bulbs replaced

Brake lights work - signal lights work

No other power issues - I checked and I am getting power to the sockets ?

any advice before I take it to a shop and get rail roaded....

thanks Rob

If your getting power to the sockets than you have bad bulbs or the wrong ones in there.

well i agree if you have power at the socket bad bulbs. but if it is the reverse lights sounds like a nutral saftey switch

your bulbs may not be lining up correctly in the sockets. happened to me, try twisting the pigtail a litle bit to see if the contacts on the socket make contact to the bulbs

Are the fixtures grounded ? At least a shop should recognize what car it is.
I'm blind.

I dont no the right number by memory but that doesnt sound right. You can google it or someone will jump in. Your brake-tail light should be a double filament with 2 staggered pins on the bulb. I think the back up might be a 1056.

I've been selling/installing parts for the better part of 7yrs and have yet to run in to a vehicle that requires a 15xx bulb, but then again the same goes for 60% of the other bulbs we sold too lol

lol no kidding...

Duh ...my bad they are 1156 and 1157 thanks

A lot of the time the sockets get corroded and the bottom center contact for the bulb loses its "springyness". It's really very simple. You need power and a good ground. Sometimes also, painted surfaces provide a poor ground. Make up a alligator-clip jumper wire and connect one end to a really good unpainted ground back there in the trunk area (maybe under the bumper). Then clip the other end on the sockets to provide a ground.

If you have power to the sockets, it has got to work. Worst case, you could get new sockets. They used to sell them in bubble packs at auto parts, at least the innards. I have a pack or two saved.

The reverse lights could be a switch in the trans. If i remember correctly there is a switch off of there that comes on when put into reverse. I could be wrong since my reverse lights still dont work.

Reverse switch on Torqueflites since 69 is on the trans, part of the NSS. It has 3 terminals. Center is ground in park/ neutral, outer two are reverse

Earlier cars had the NSS on the trans, the reverse switch in the shift linkage.

3--4 speed switches were always on the gearbox

The 3496 bulbs made by Sylvania and purchased from a Honda dealer are the best I have ever used in place of the 1157.
Brighter and last a lot longer.

Get your voltmeter out and have someone step on the brake then read the voltage at the socket to see if it's live. You will of course you have to ground the black lead of the voltmeter to the chassis. If it's live check your bulb, socket, ground to socket. If it's not live check your fuses, brake switch etc.

Thanks guys

So I have brake lights - turn signals but still no tail lights or reverse - In checking sockets I found that the double filament socket has power to the turn signal nub in the socket but no power to the tail light nub in the socket - same on both sides. I appreciate your help - lets keep the wisecracks to a minimum LOL I'm a newbie MOPAR guy ( love my car ) looking for help.

Are your front parking lights working and are the rear side marker lights working.
If not you may have a bad switch or a short. Being you have brake lights the socket
must be grounded.

Front lights working - left front marker working - right front marker not ?

Arghhhh:banghead:

Park/ tail only comes/ goes so many places:

Fuse panel/ tail fuse up to light switch. That fuse is separate power from headlights

From headlight switch down to the connector in the kick panel, then the rear harness back to the sockets.

You know how to properly remove the light switch shaft, IE the release button behind?

I tried that with an long time MOPAR guy this afternoon -couldn't remove the light switch shaft -

another problem being with the wiring is some gabrone re-wired the car with a mish mash of colours - IE Purple wire from rear socket turns out to be green at the kick panel and then brown at fuse panel - My friend was thinking it was the switch ( headlight ) that could be causing the issue as there is a buzzer when lights are left on which he said is not normal -

I just don't get how it can be fine one day and then boom no tail lights or reverse lights :protest:

TO be honest pretty exhausted chasing my tail

I have brake lights and turn signals so I can drive all day just not at night LOL

Boy I feel your pain.. Just wait till you hit the brake pedal and the instrument panel lights up..Wish I could help good luck..

When you had the kick panel off did you check for power to the back lights there.
Probing the connector from the dash with a test light or meter. If there's no power there more then likely it's the switch. Which could account for it being good one day and not the next.

Here's a diagram if you don't have one for a 72 Dart. I believe it's the same up to 76.
