Got the 273 all together, primed, and the distributor set(I think, got recheck it). I had taken the distributor cap clips off, to paint the distributor(I know it is highly debated if the distributors were painted), the clips were perfect, no overspray and still had the original black finish. I put them up where I would remember where I put them, well guess what I forgot where I put them, DOH!!!!! I already had the garage cleaned in anticipation of the Dart coming home tomorrow, so don't know if I accidentally threw them or moved them. I stole the clips off of a 318 I had sitting in the garage, they were covered with overspray, cleaned em up and a quick coat with black bbq paint, not sure how durable bbq paint is, but it is the closest hardware store paint I have found to the black oxide(?) finish, plus it seems to not chip as bad as regular paint.
Rant over.
Make me feel better and post your doh! moments.

Happens to me all the time. What hurts is you know "where" you put them but when you look there not there. I swear my shop has Gremlins that move my stuff at night !!

Well hell today in a drizzle I spent 15 minutes try'in ta remember where lug nuts were for the rear tires. Had 'em layin' in the gusset on one of the arms of the 2 post hoist. Of course it was in the air, and I couldn't see e'm "up there."

Now this is absolutely true.

I was talkin' to a buddy, standin' in my livin' room, I look down and "dam, etc" and my friend says "whut?"

I say, "I see the holster for my cellphone, but it's EMPTY."

He says "How many do ya need, you're talkin ta me on ONE of em."!!!!!

was drilling a few holes in some flat-stock to build my electric fan mounts for the powerwagon, went to test fit, came back to drill more holes for the fan to bar bolts and couldnt find my safety glasses.....looked for a while, didnt find them, finished the job, found em.....sitting on my hat that was on my damn head....doh!

I'm still looking for a few nitrous jets that I specifically place somewhere where I would REMEMBER where I put them...... It's been three years now.... WHERE ARE THEY!!!,

for real man ! holy smokes everyday I am looking for something I just set down and end up using an extra only to find what I was looking for the next day ....pisses me off , I hate getting old LOL

Was at Home Depot.....with a list. Had my arms full of stuff and needed to check the list to make sure I had everything. Could not find the list but was sure I had forgotten something. Went thru the check out got home and figured out what I had forgotten. Went back to Home Depot and was back in the electrical department when the same guy that talked to me on the previous trip came up and started talking to me. Told him I lost my list and forgotten something......reached into his apron and handed me my list....Said he found it on the shelf right next to the one thing I had forgotten.....

My son and a freind and I put a 340 in a 72 charger. Trans was in. motor went in easy. We finished the top and went to do the bottom. I got under with the converter bolts in hand. I asked who put the converter in they both said not me. Well I didn't either.

So if we have senior moments does that mean that we qualify for senior discounts. Guess this video is appropriate

Hope I did that right the first time, ok the second time

I put my full set of personality keys for my Snap On scanner somewhere and still haven't found them. The scanner is worthless without them so I had to buy another almost full set.

I went running around the house for several minutes one day looking for my car keys frantically because I wanted to get on the road. Got real frustrated for awhile. My wife says "what's that in your hand?". Oh.

lol some of these storys ive done the same thing expecially the glasses on top of my head......to awnser one of the op's questions ive used the i think krylon bbq black and ue right its very close to what they used and it is durable i used it on my m/t valve covers and it holds up great and ur correct it does chip less then regular stuff.

Helped with a stock 4 cyl Vega engine swap. Engine out,new one going in. Installing pressure plate. Car owner yells "how tight?".Not really thinking about it,replied"snug" . To me ,30 to 40 ft.-lbs. Him,not really mechanically inclined,"snugged them". Drives off. Two hours later, get "the call". Tow it back, sure enough, the bolts backed off. WHOOPS....

...half the time, I don't even know what day it is.....
I think its a personality defect that a lot of us "car guy's" have. (that's my story anywho)

More than once I've spent 10 or 15 minuets hunting for a wrench only to find it in my back pocket.

How many times have you had said wrench in your back pocket and jumped in the car and felt/heard that sickening tearing of fabric sound??
