Hello everyone!

I've been searching for this to do a manual swap in my dart. In my searching I found a guy around me with a pile of mopar parts and one of the things he has is a 1970 B-Body 833 trans complete. Meaning has the bell housing, rods, shifter, tail shaft, etc. he is asking $350. Is this worth it to pick up or would it be to much trouble to swap in?
Thanks

The trouble with B body 4 speeds, which give you the same overall length as a 727, is the shifter mounting. You just about have to build a custom shifter mount, so far as I know. Somewhere I saw a post about this.
If you had an A body 833 for comparison, it would be easier, but then if you had one, LOL, you wouldn't need to make a shifter mount!!!

Check out this thread: The B front shifter mount is right in the road of the crossmember. The rear mount is E body, I guess maybe you could hack up the floor and use a custom shift lever??

Thanks 67Dart273, that makes sense. I just figured it would mostly switch over but it can't hurt to ask

Since your starting from scratch you might as well get an A body transmission just to make things a little easier, but a (70-newer) B body transmission can be made to fit with a little fabrication.

That is exactly what I did. Instead of shimming out the adapter plate, I bent it giving the adapter plate an offset. Works great.

If that setup is in good condition, $350.00 is a smokin deal. I would buy and then flip it. You should be able to make a few hundred that can be used to help buy the proper A-Body parts you need.

Snap it up, sell the main shaft and tailshaft housing for an A body and use everything else.
