Im getting ready to have my 440 Balanced. Seen tons of different brands out there. What would you run? It is a street strip car. 10.5 to 1 compression and a forged crank.

.......................x3.......................................kim........

I don`t like dampers that possibly might have to be rebuilt, I`ll probably swing for the ultra overpriced S.F.I. fluid damper. I think it would be a good choice on a 440 stroker motor.---just my 2 cents-----bob

I've run 2 fluidamprs. Great units.

X3 on the Fluidamper.

x4

I am running a TCI Rattler on my 69 340 in the Satellite, seems to work great too, but it does rattle when the engine idles real low when its cold and and as its shutting down. Has anyone ever used a TCI Rattler before? They have a Rattle snake on them, with weights inside them that move around....don't see many anymore...or ever lol

I have a tci rattler on my 408. but its on the stand. I think mad dart also has a rattler.

Cool! Say James, what brand water pump is that? I might need a new one and like how that one looks....also, where did you get those long water pump bolts from too? Those look very sharp :D

Thank you. It's an Edelbrock Victor water pump, and ARP bolt kit.

Side note, may I ask you to please edit your post and take the quoted part of the picture out. I resized the picture to not take up so much room. :)

No prob, thanks! I will look into those parts for my car

Run an ATI they have always worked for me and my families race engines (526 wegde, 734hp 702tq_ 540 supercharged, 1255Hp 1134tq pump gas) they are really nicely built and they are sfi rated

I've been using the Pioneer internally balanced small block version SFI balancer/dampers on my 360's for many years and everything works & looks fine. Summit and other places carry their line, including this internally balanced SFI balancer/damper for a big block:

I never cared for the "gimmicky" styles that have come out over the years. The bonded/sandwiched rubber has worked so well in so many applications for so many decades, street through race, and modern technology makes them even better.

They also have a "Street Performance" version:

I guess in part it depends on what style you prefer.

If I was goin with a stock or mildly modified engine, I'd use a good quality elastomer type balancer. Anything more and I would choose something different. I've seen too many elastomer hubs spun out from under outer rings on fast revving engines.

Which ever one you pick, make sure it's an SFI rated part

You might try askin some of the slant guys about the Romac balancers. That's one of the few companies that makes good balancers for the slant.

Romac is based in Australia. I don't know who makes the Pioneer SFI balancers, but they are manufactured in Australia as well! Could it be Romac, or is there another balancer manufacturer down there?

I run a ATI Super Damper, really nice quality though the shiny black finish does reflect the light so using the timing light can sometimes be tricky to read.

My mate runs a Rattler, had it on there for a good three years + with no problems, he loves it so much bought another for his new engine.

Forgot to mention, the ATI comes in two peices, the hub and the balancer, makes it a lot easier to install and remove, so if hammers/pullers are involved at any time the nice technical bit can be well out of harms way on the bench.

I bet that's who makes them then. I'm sure there ain't a ton of balancer maker down under......or anywhere else. Most are probably rebranded.
