1970 340 Swinger tire/wheel combos

-
No problem!

That window sticker of the FC7 car has the four speed option listed below. The description above just shows what comes standard on the 340 swinger and the addition options were listed below.. $14.05 for high impact paint and $187.90 for the four speed! I wish I had a time machine!

You don't have the build sheet for your car either? I wish Chrysler would have put the wheel options on the fender tag!

D21 ofc... Saw & knew about the paint cost.

My FC7 car does not have a build sheet no, otherwise I would have probably not started this thread (as it had the color keyed rim & Polyglas tire in the trunk) So I can assume it had red stripe dog dish, will probably run rally like everyone else out there! But as you stated will have & may run both. Options to delight the driver as they used to say!

I don't know about redlines, but my original '70 340 Swinger 340 has the body color(B5 blue) 5.5 steelies with the red circle poverty caps. If you'd like, I'll check the build sheet for the code.

Just wondering if you (or anyone else) found and or has their build sheet with the dog dish cap code. Pics please! Everyone says it happened/was available, but can't produce any original pics of cars with em on or pics of a build sheet with the code for them, really!?!

Do we need to do a 70 340 Swinger sign up/check in? Must be at least a hundred+ of us on here that own them! Almos 14k of them were made, Someone must have a pic!?!

I know it happened becuase I had more than a few 70 340 Darts over of the years that were original and were equipt with hubcaps (dog dishes), wheelcovers and rallye wheels. You have to remember, not all cars came with Broadcast sheets, and when Chrysler was making print ads back then... as well as now, they would show optional equiptment on the car. So, it is common to see optional wheels, tires, extra cost paint, vinyl tops, hood pins, flat black hoods and so on. All the optional items that made these cars look racier and meaner. Here are the codes for the wheels, dog dish caps are called hubcaps, becuase they juct covered the hub and lugs. Wheel covers covered to entire wheel, both standard and deluxe...and wire were available

W01 hubcaps
W02 wheel trim rings
W04 hubcaps w/trim rings
W06 collapsible spare tire
W07 delete spare tire
W08 regular spare tire convert
W09 compact spare tire
W10 13"delux wheel cov69/71
W11 14" deluxe wheel cover 69/71
W11 15" wheels w/426 hemi 69
W12 14or15 wl tr rings w/hcap
W13 class 2 wheel cover 69
W13 deep dish wheel cover 70only
W15 wire wheel cov 1970/71
W15 deep dish wheel cov 69
W17 14"colsteel wheel 69/71
W18 14"sim mag wheel cov 69/70
W18 wire wheel cov 69abody
W21 14"chrome sty rd wheels 69
W21 rally wheels 70/71
W22 rallye wheel/trim rings
W23 roadwheel class 2 70/71
W24 styled road wheels class

Ok John, here is the original build sheet from my 70 340 Swinger...if I am reading my build sheet right under "wheels" it has "road 51-color TX9-spare 12-wheel cover 24"

Does that mean my car came with the W24 styled road wheels class? AKA Rallye wheels?

Also, trying to figure out what tires it had, under "Tires" it has T74, what would that be? I found E70x14 WSW fiberglass belt....is that a white wall tire?

Thanks for your help!!!

My dart's broadcast sheet said 21 under road and wheel cover was blank...and that car had rallyes. your sheet says TX9 so your wheels were painted black and ralleys would be argent.

WSW would be White Side Wall.

Maybe someone alse knows for sure but thats my interpritation.

I was wondering about the black paint code, thought maybe it was for the spare tire....but if the car had wheel covers, the rims would have been black. I just need to find out what style cover mine had. Thanks

Check out these early 70 Dart Swinger pics I have, they came in a super rare press folder kit only the dealerships got......note the wheel covers on the first car :glasses7:

Car also has a 69 seat or 69 head rests in it too, also, the front side marker lights on the front fenders look a little different....

I don't know what you are looking for. The dog dish caps were the standard cap. They came on all darts unless one of the optional wheel treatments was ordered.

Other early pics....note the rear stripe, black door knobs on the handles and the dash, this car also has the 69 seat..........:glasses7:

I'm looking for confirmation, someone to post a pic of their build sheet with the dog dish cap as the code & color keyed wheels, or a old orig pic like the early press release photos 330 sedan just posted (but of a 340 car (those caps definitely did not come on a 70 Dart & were just that, early press release photos, they are 69 caps)

If only Chrysler could re-issue or print us up new build sheets from providing our VIN...

Thanks all for the new pics/posts

Not a rally dash either in that car. The 1st pics have no emblems either, thanks for sharing the pics, I have seen the pics with the girl before, not the other ones though, cool literature you have acquired!

Thanks! They should have made the rear stripe on all the cars like the one pictured, wraps under the bumper on the valance, looks great! I also have a small factory pic of a 70 340 Swinger, blue wearing a blue bumble bee stripe :glasses7:

The red stripe dog dish & color keyed wheels on a 340 car yes. Its funny how nobody can come up with a orig pic or a pic of their build sheet confirming it. We will get to the bottom of this, honest! Again I'm not trying to be difficult, just want facts. I own 4-70 Darts, 20+Mopars. Have been around them all my life, I'm not new to the game...

Yes they should have. Odd color stripes are fun, the 340 3 speed Swinger on Fleabay in Vegas is a FT6 car with a red stripe.

Ok, I have a question about a "wheel" but its my steering wheel...look at the 2nd pic of my build sheet, can you tell what steering wheel my car came factory with? I know the one code is for black, I have a nice standard wheel, but if it came with something else the hunt is on :glasses7:

Thanks!!

My build sheet has Wheel Color Spare
12 EB5 12
My wheels are B5 blue with redline dogdish caps, and a full size B5 blue spare

Saw a friend at a swap meet today and asked him the same question & he said his friend had a B5 340 Swinger with A/C and it had color keyed wheels & red stripe dogdish caps.

(W12 14or15 wl tr rings w/hcap) no trim rings ofc on ours... Thanks for posting. Guess if you had a color keyed spare its safe to say it had dogdish on the car. (missing my build sheet, but have a factory FC7 spare though...) TX9 spare having rallys or full wheelcovers. Still may just run rallys, hmm.

Any pics of your car? How long you had it? Take it to any local shows? auto or stick. I`m not too far from you (bought my car in Blaine)

I knew someone on here had to have a build sheet with the code if they did come that way, thanks a bunch!

Can`t find my buildsheets atm... most 340 Swingers I have seen have had the regular wheel. both mine do. my 4dr has the optional one with the horn ring though!

So does anyone think black (TX9) wheels were available with the dogdish caps or were were they only available color-keyed if you got the red stripe dogdish? W12 code we are assuming is the the code for the dogdish. Calling all 70 340 Dart owners that have build sheets! Thanks in advance! :)

i know my car came with the tuff steering wheel but they dont show it in the brochure as an option,i know were talkin wheels but just goes to show

they did come that way

My steering wheel is the upgraded model with the separate chrome horn ring. I'll try to post a picture of the build sheet.
