Assassin Traction Device?

So, I've been looking for a cheap way to beef up the rear suspension in my 74 Swinger until I can later afford to back half it. I found this Assassin traction device and for the money it looks legit. I was just wondering if anyone is running em or knows anyone who's running em. Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
 
Get 2 right and 2 left hand of these from Rod End Supply

Then Go to http://pitstopusa.com/ and order 4 suspension tabs and 2 swedged tubes to fit your rod ends and make your own like Cal-Tracks. Don't need those fancy brackets and linkage. The rubber in the rod ends gives a little to let suspension move Weld the tabs to bottom of u bolt brackets and then extend the front spring mount down. Lots of people have done their own around here there are a lot of us Red-Necks

But with rubber rod ends to give some flex. Didn't notice til I posted picture but front mount needs to be directly below front spring eye to keep things parallel

what makes you think you need to backhalf it or is that just the look and hassle you want?

caltracts mono leafs, shocks, and caltrac bar and your done...
 
I agree, Caltracs, mono leafs and shocks are the way to go. It's what I did. But cheaply is not the word I associate with those parts, and he wants to do it cheaply. I have never heard of the Assassin, but the whole idea is to keep the axle down. It looks like it would work, but I have no experience with it. Caltracs are freakin' awesome, though.

and as far as cheaply i think a caltracs setup is cheaper than a cheap rear suspension AND THEN a full back half...
 
yeah, balk half's are a pain in the ***, to install, setup, and drive on the street. Skip the pain and install a set of ESPO +1" leaf's and call it a day.
 
I thought back half would be the way to go down the road but from what you guys say caltracs and mono leafs are better and less hassle. Jo Diesel, your right. I was thinking about making my own ladder bars. I did a set for my cummins a couple years ago and they turned out pretty good. The only reason I brought up the assassin set up was it cost me the same money to build the bars as what the assassin brings. However, those were much longer than what the dart would need. Thanks everyone for all the help.
 
Maybe I am wrong but if you want to go cheap get an adjustable pinion snubber. Don't get me wrong as I love the caltracs but what they do is to control axle wrap. A pinion snubber will do the same ( but not as well) for a lot less money. JMO

Don't forget to reinforce the floor where the pinion snubber will come in contact with it during hard acceleration.

Or open a hole and tell everyone you have so much torque the axle punched the snubber through the floor. It will really impress the ladies!

Pinion snubber correctly set, then put the rest of the money you woulda spent for the same result toward MORE POWER ! !
 
these are all really good ideas minus the hole in the floor haha. I have a while yet before I can start ripping and tearing into her so i got some time to consider all these great options. Thanks everyone.

Those are the old "Traction Masters" we used back in the 1960's/70's
 
Before I bought the Caltrac setup on my 66 Dart,I installed Comp Engineering,s Slide-A-Link on my 73 Dart Sport 340 4 speed.These are bolt on similar to CalTracs,but with big neoprene bushing to absorb some of the Hit.A member has a new set of Slide-A-Link for sale on here.Try the search bar,these work and are cheaper than the Caltracs.Trying to show pic with Slide-A-LinK on my car.Slide-A-Link for sale here..

Pinion snubbers are good doorstops... :)

Band Aid for having a weak set of springs. Nothing more.

The Assassin bars look like a nice piece. Shock control is an important part of the equation.
