I always liked the buckets when I was trying to pick a girl up, but once I had the girl in the car I always wanted a bench seat.

Buckets = sex appeal
Bench = easier ???

Drove 67 notch fish with bench for many years, drove 73 Valiant with bench for many years. Those 2 benches aren't the same. The earlier bench was much more confortable even though it was all vinyl and the Valiant bench had plaid cloth inserts. I think the difference is in their springs/filling construction.
The later model benches suffer spring failure. I never had a 67 bench that failed.

the valiant may have had one of those benches with the foam molded to the frame ......the construction changed in 72 to make the bench seat backs thinner to give occupants more space .....also with the thinner seat back, when you folded it foward it went almost completely flat.....pretty handy idea but as they got old as started showing wear was when they were not so comfy anymore. the older seats were thicker foam and took longer to wear down.

at least thats my theory from what i have seen .......i am dabbling with upholstery and have re-done a few seats.

Seen a few of those split bench seats in some yards around here, my dad also sent a 68 Barracuda to the crusher with one.....no idea anybody wanted those.

The bench that Rani showed that is going to Canada will find a new home in my Dart. I like buckets, but have gotten really used to the arm rest so this to me is the best of both worlds. Now if I could only get my AC up and working I would be a very happy old man.

I went from bench to buckets just recently. I put the high back buckets in. I actually feel like I sit up higher with the high back buckets and they are so much more supportive which I think makes them more comfortable. I guess the low backs are a bit different though. I want to make a custom console one day that looks factoryish but has cupholders.

Ill admit i like both buckets and bench. I feel like a black bench seat doesn't have as much of a grandma vibe as a blue or green seat.

I might want to take exception to that 'grandma vibe' green seat!! But then again I am married to a grandma! Ben.

I've had buckets in most all my Mopars except my first one, so you might say I'm going back to where I started. I just wish I would have put the hand shaker in her.

How ever it came. You can see this car had a console so i am putting it back the way it was.

Loving 66340's reference, and I have to agree, Bench the whole way! I think it gives the cleanest look - and a more "classic" look as well with everything going buckets

As small as you are buckets seem the logical choice don't you think ? a decent sized man will have his knees up pretty high if taking a ride with you, and really my bench only will go up far enough to fit someone about 5.6 or so. me at 6.2 not a problem.Just my two cents

Buckets and console only! Now if you can't find a 4 speed console (or convert your auto to one) why not just make your own custom one? That all said no way I'd put a 4 speed in my car, 6 speed only :twisted: more work but something about grabbing those last two gears makes it all worth it.

I like bench seats one because they are just plain Jane nerdy fun especially with a 4 speed stick, two you never see them in modern cars and three you can schmoosh three people in the front seat and that will get strange looks as you cruise around town.

I might want to take exception to that 'grandma vibe' green seat!! But then again I am married to a grandma! Ben.

that interior is inspirational ...i love the green .....i almost want to set that pic as my desktop background ....that is pure beauty

Bucket with or with out console.. My Demon has a 73 Duster bench in it now and I don't like it - it's very heavy

Not 100% on this but I think a bench is lighter than two buckets. 70 buckets I weighed were 60lb each. I don't think a bench is 120lb though I have never weighed one.

sit on the bench and stir your own.
