I'm putting together my 65 barracuda disc swap. The 73 up disc a-body spindles are supposed to accept 11 3/4 rotors with the larger caliper brackets.....but what wheel bearings? A2 fits the outer, but the inner race in the rotor is 2.48 od, the bearing bore is too big for the spindle, it's 1.375, or 1 3/8.....what bearing do I need on the inner? Rotors are mid 70's full size...the a body A17 bearing is too small......

If you have 73+ spindles, you should just need the wheel bearings for the 11 3/4" rotors. I just ask for wheel bearings for a '77 Cordoba. I think I have some, lemme check the part #...

**UPDATE**

Part # I have for the Timken inners is Set17, or A17 for National. BR17 for SKF. I checked them against a set of 73+ spindles I have, and a set of 11 3/4" rotors, that bearing set fits both of them.

So, the bearing isn't fitting the rotor? If that's the case, it sounds like you have the wrong rotor.

A17 bearing fits the spindle (1 3/8") but the rotor race is bigger. When I ordered the rotors, I asked for mid 70's full size dodge 11 3/4" rotors......did I miss?? These rotors are 11 3/4" dia.....Is there more then one mopar 11 3/4" rotor???? The inner bearing bore needs to be 1.375 and the race o.d. needs to be 2.48 , any part number for this size?

What is the brand and part number of your rotor? I will see if I can cross reference it.

can you get a decent set of pads for those things? i was going to rob the 11 3/4's off my 76 cordoba but i couldnt find a set of pads that werent glued organics. instead i janked a set of 10 inchers off a grand fury and went with rivited metallic pads.

I bet you got C-Body rotors. C-Body and trucks used a bigger inner bearing.

The one's you need ar 1" thick, I bet the ones you have are 1.25" thick.

The real bummer is that I turned down the outside of the outer end of the hub to clear my mustang 17" rims.

I know one guy turned a spacer so he could use a C-Body rotor, I think it was BigBlockMopar, but I don't know for certain. Not a fan of bearing spacers but they have been done for years and it would save you from having to buy another set of rotors.

Ok so what application do I give the parts guy. Their computer catalog doesn't have a buyers guide and they don't comprehend B body. Anyone have a foolproof application with no options?

Same pads as for the 10.87" brake set up. In fact, same calipers if you want. Some of the later B/R bodies used a slightly larger piston in the caliper, but the external dimensions are the same. If you've got 73+ brakes, you can switch to 11 3/4" rotors without even bleeding your brakes.

1.250 thick

C body rotors. :wack:

Just ask for rotors from a '77 Cordoba. You'll want to specify that they're 11.75". Then check to make sure they're only 1" thick. Centric part # is 12163009, Raybestos is 7038R, Bendix is PRT1132.

Summit also sells an awesome set of drilled/slotted 11.75" rotors, part #SUM-BR-63009L and SUM-BR-63009R.

You could just give them a part number. Rock Auto shows RAYBESTOS Part #7038R for a '78 Cordoba. Or tell them you want a rotor for a '78 Cordoba, they only had one size rotor, 11.75".

I was adding part #'s to my post while your were posting. :D

I had the parts guy look up earlier cordoba stuff first...they showed both sizes up to a certain date , so I told him to go with another car....so 77 is the magic year...I had a 76 charger and a 75 cordoba back in the 80's but never measured the brakes.....thanks for the part #s

With the C-body rotors you also need the C-body calipers.
I've made some spindle collars from a close-fitting piece of pipe-tubing at the time but I recently found the tubing material was too soft and deformed a bit after time. I'm currently redoing the collars by machining 2 cam lifters which are made of a better material.

I don't think the PO was trying to use C body rotors, just got them by mistake. Easiest thing to do is just use B/R body rotors with the calipers he already has.

Dr. Diff sells wheel bearing collars, I wouldn't be making those myself. C body rotors require a bit of custom work to make them fit, and there really isn't an advantage to running them vs. the ones that bolt on.
