Walking away??

I noticed that I don't lose tools when I buy expensive ones. I think it's like cheap sunglasses.....no respect.

I just accept that I'll be buying a full set of screwdrivers every 3 years or so. But I bought some Snap-On 3/8" socket extensions about 15 years ago, and I've never lost one of 'em!

I still have the sunglasses I bought when I first moved to AZ in 93. I bought a bent handle flex head Snap On ratchet in high school, have not lost it yet. I am good at losing hammers.....but for every one I lose I find one on the road.

Step one: Make an indelible home (That means you can't confuse that home with anything else) for every single item. Paint outlines, foam cutouts, organizer trays, whatever.
Then, start putting your tools away when you're done! This step is critical. If you put them away while you're using them, then they can't get far from where where you.

See an empty home while you're putting your tools away? Go on a manhunt until you find him. No Marine left behind.

Start putting the tools away when I am done??? You are a funny guy.....

I hear ya Doug. I was just thinking I need to go to Sears to get another set because I'm now down to about 6 from the last time I bought a 25 piece set. I don't loan out and always clean up at the end of the day... I don't get it.....

Maybe, when I die, I'll get to see every screwdriver, pocket knife and fishing lure I've lost over my lifetime. That, my friend, would be heaven....
Never have lost a knife, still have the first one I ever bought as well as several others. Used to work with a guy that sold knifes. Used to sell them to me at cost. Got Ernie 2 full sets of Henckels for less than retail on one set.
I dropped a wrench down into the fender on a Regal I had years ago. Mom got in an accident with it about 12 years later. Friends body shop found the wrench and convinced the Snap On guy to replace it.
Never been a fisherman, that is not to say I have not lost friends equipment. Wish I had a video of when I tried to get a lure out of a tree and fell into a pond....

I've never heard of the day glow,is that just a bright colored handle?I use alot and lose alot of what i call tweakin screw drivers, very small tip that I use at work.If you want to talk about the best brand, then I'll have to go with Klien.I don't know if you have any kids but thats usually where mine went.

No kids. One of my dogs did steal a couple of screwdrivers years ago. Still have them, bit chewed up......they match the claw hammer he lifted out of the tool box and munched on a bit....

I have about 2 complete set of craftsman screwdrivers.
I have one set hanging on the wall, with one of every size.
The other is in the tool box in the other garage "if" I get in a bind.
If the tool is not there when I am done working on it I will find it before shutting the garage light off.
This goes for everything sockets, rachets etc.
It is just being orginized. I have to because my shop space is very tight.

Another funny guy....organized.....ha ha ha you funny........

My wife has offered to finish arranging my tool box. I have the drawers labeled, sockets on rails etc but it is still a bomb zone. Last time the lid was shut was when it came off the rental truck when we moved. I have never been very organized. At least I am not a pack rat like my Dad was......
