Hello, I am ordering 15x8 steel wheels I need to get tires for. They are going on a 1973 duster. I'm not sure what size tire I need. I also need to figure out if I need 4 or 4 1/2 backspace when I order my rims. I want a taller tire to go up into the wheel well and fill it in. Any suggestions?

..my rears are 15 x 7 and 255/R15/60 and i think they look too big.
..probably would look better with 235/R15/60
..maybe i'm showing my age.

did you ever order your rims, im looking for sizing options also

Stock Mopar 15 x 7" with 4.25" backspace fits really nice with 275/60/15.

Back from the dead! Post is over a year old...

I also like how there's no mention of which rear axle is being used, whether or not the springs are in the stock location, and how high the cars sit.

I'm wondering the same for my demon. I got a set of 275/60/15s for the rear and they look huge! Hopefully they will fit.

They'll fit. I had a set of 275/40/17's on my Duster with the stock 7.25" rear axle and stock spring location. If you have the stock 8 3/4, you should be good with a set of 15x8's with 4.5" backspace.

Sorry if this is a thread jack...i have a 73 duster slant 6 with factory rear and small bolt pattern, Stock leafs and locations. Have 14x7 rear wheels with 4" bs. 245/60 on the rear fit ok or stick with 235s? Been looking at the wheel tire combo thread but just got more confused.

i have 245/60/15 on mine fir just fine i'd recomend you get a 15x8 rear wheel though/

you should be good

Would like to upgrade eventually, these 14x7s were uber cheap and practically new. Thanks!

I do have the 8 3/4. The wheels are 15x8 rallye wheels with 4.5 backspace that I got from Jegs.

I have 15x10 with 4 3/4 backspacing. Running 255 Drag Radials.

275/60/15 Nitto drag radials. offset shackles, 4 5/8" backspace i believe. tire is about 27.5" dia. hook nice!!

Looks pretty sweet! I was worried they would look a little too tall in the rear but that looks about right. Do you know if they would fit with stock springs or is the offset required? I had thought about eventually going with the 002/003 springs. Was hoping to avoid the offset kit but could add one if need be.

why such a wide tire for a /6? by the axle i assume its a 6

Was a /6. I was just test fitting the wheels from my Challenger on my Duster to figure out what width tires I could run, and I still post it up occasionally for folks with stock rear axles. A 275 will fit pretty easily on a Duster with the stock rear axle as long as the backspace is right. To that end, the 7.25" rears are about an inch narrower than the A-body 8 3/4's, which is why I mention it. I had to use a spacer to get to 4.75" of backspace on the 17x9's I had the 275/40/17's on, but with an 8 3/4 the 17x9" with 5" backspace would have been fine, just like the 275/60/15's are fine on a 15x8 with 4.5" backspace for an 8 3/4", but might need a small spacer for a 7.25". Not that you'd want to run 275's on a 7.25 anyway...

My Duster now has a 340/4 speed and B body 8 3/4 with 295/35/18's on 18x10's. :burnout:

Are they OutlawII's? $80 brand new I got mine from Summit. I wrapped them wit 245/60/r14s BFG's. They wind up with a nice nearly 10" wide tread at the street. They look good.
