Like a few others here I'm looking for either 16"-17" rims for my 73 dart with big bolt pattern.

I was looking at some aftermarket rims made for a newer Chrysler 300. The bolt pattern is 5x115mm, which converted = 5x4.5inch; right?

The problem with these is the widths are mostly 8". What's the largest width you can fit up front? (I don't mind rolling the fenders slightly).

4.5 inches converts to 114.3mm...so if you're going from 5x115mm, it would convert to 5x4.53....not sure if that makes a difference, or a headache, sorry.

A mechanic I used told me the story of a Ford Explorer. A little used car place next to him sold the Explorer with 24" rims on it to a Hispanic family that spoke little English. They brought the SUB back stating it shook horribly over 45 mph. The dealer brought it to the mechanic and he checked out the front end, rear end and said it looked good. He took it for a drive and it shook worse than anything he ever drove. Got it back on the lift and went to remove the wheels to check the balance. He noticed 1 of the lug nuts was a stock type and the rest were made for the wheels...on each wheel. To shorten the story, the bolt pattern was for a F-150, which I guess is only slightly larger than the Explorer's. They swapped out a set of wheels of a Ranger the dealer had. The Explorer drove smoothly at 85 on the freeway.

The buyer came back, saw the wheels changed and an argument started. A friend of the buyer showed up and the argument got worse. Then local cops showed up. The dealer offered to give back some money because of the wheels, then offered to take the SUV back with a full refund. The buyer drove off with the 24's on the SUV...probably slowly.

Moral of the long story? A little bit off on the bolt pattern will make a difference. Guess if ya wanna look coll......

The new rear wheel drive Mopars use the 115mm pattern, being only .7mm different it looks so close and the wheel goes over the bolt pattern. I borowed a friends wheel from a new Charger to check fittment and I did up 2 nuts to check for clearence with his tires on my 65 Cuda. It's hard to tell they don't quit fit as it is so close.

Hi All,
I just picked up a set of 2006 Charger wheels, 17" Steel, and dropped them off at the tire store to have the old tires removed. We also checked the bolt pattern and is is a 5X114.3 or 4.5! We used a bolt pattern tool and it fit perfectly. Just adding fuel to the fire.

I've been thinking about the 5-spokes off the cop car Chargers. Anyone have expirience with these?

The new Molars are running 5X115mm bolt pattern wheels. 4.5 is 114.3mm. The wheels will NOT work without being red filled or using adapters (I would weld and redrill before I would use adapters). Whoever measured your wheels did not do it correctly. Are they close....yes. Will they bolt on and tighten up.... yes. Will they stay tight.... only by flexing the studs slightly. Is that a smart thing to do.... no.
I'm not trying to start a long argument, but be safe. For you, your car, and the safety of those around you... do it right. If you can't find the wheels you like in your bolt pattern make the proper modifications so that it's safe. I have many years experience with tires and wheels.... and sub par work in such an important part of the car just isn't worth the risk.

The earliest Chargers, Magnums, 300s did have a 114.3 bolt pattern. I forget what year they changed.
Details are in old threads here with pics of those wheels under a-bodies and e-bodies.
I think this is where some of the confusion stems from.

What Redfish said must be true. I just purchased some 17" steel rims off a 2006 Charger and they fit perfectly, hub centric and all! I am formerly Swingertime, and they did measure up to 5x114.3 not 115mm. Check out the pic.
