So the bucket seat side pieces aren't in bad shape, but, I'd like to make them better. I',m not sure if they are a plastic or what they are. Has anyone refinished them with good results???
Any help is appreciated. As always

It is steel with vinyl laminate ( contact cemented on ) . SEMS Landau black is a perfect match.

I painted most of my interior trim with Krylon plastic paint. I looks fantastic, but it is not as durable as I would have liked. It doesn't chip easily, but the plastic upper panel on the driver's door gets little nicks and marks from me using it to open and close the door. The untouched pieces look like new.

Any, including the SEMs products, require proper prep. SEMs prep solvent will be available wherever their paints are sold.
Wear through is somewhat typical on door tops, especially with spray cans.
Many of them are mostly vehicle with very little pigment material in them.

Should I blast it down to clean meatal, or just sand out the scratches, gouges etc, and go over the top???

After cleaning/prepping... make sure to use a Adhesion Promoter. I have tried cheaper store brands but had better success with Bulldog product. JMO

Huh ? You wouldn't sand blast the vinyl skin off it. If the raw steel inner side is rusty I will use Rustoleums Rust Reforemer primer and nothing more. There are ways to repair small gouges in the vinyl skin but its a little time consuming. I put most of that time/effort in the seat backs where it matters most. Small scars in the skirts are hardly visible after a fresh coat of the SEMs.

Thanks Redfish.
I appreciate you're patience. Im trying to be self reliant, but, I don't want to F@#$ things up.

The sems is awesome, thanks redfish. Worked great for the console as well. Next piece if work is the rear panels. They are in real good shape, except the top piece of plastic. It's thin and worn, also, looks like the previous owner painted over it. Any idea the best way to refurb these? I'd like to strip to plastic and repaint but the plastic is so thin? Any guidance is of course appreciated!

I did some 66 Valiant convertible rear panels about five years ago. I used the SEM Landau black for the lower portion and wanted a little contrast with the upper smoother portion which is, as you show, a separate part. I painted the upper portion with flat black and then added real light coats of clear to get a little bit of gloss. Wasn't exactly like the factory but I thought it looked better than when I started. Hope this helps.

Tops of the rear panels should have the same finish as the tops of the doors. Its a medium gloss. To get that from SEMs you would need to clear coat it.
I choose to use 2 different paints on these parts. SEMs on the textured lower section, same enamel on the top that is used on the door steel.
If you remove the chrome trim from those rear panels you would find the factories paint line behind it.

Sorry, 66 Dart gt converrtible. I'm trying to put the body and interior back *** original as possible. The drive train is completely changed, but, the 318 has a mild cam, and a little work done to it. I'm going to dress it up like a 273. Original paint was the QQ1 spanish red metallic, black top and interior. It'll be sweet when it's finished. I try to do what I can as a matter of accomplishment and pride, but I'm smart enough to know I'm not smart enough on a lot of things. Thanks for you you're help Redfish. Between you and 66 Dvert, I migght just get this thing done!!!!!
