67 Hemi Dart Progress

Anyone have issues getting the Hemi installed using TTI motor mounts for the early k frame (biscuit mounts) we spent way too long trying to drop the motor home, spent way too long trying to get the TTI headers to fit, the headers fit great until we tried to reinstall the torsion bar on the drivers side. We ended up talking to the tube really nice and it just would not move so we ended up bashing it's brains out with a sledge. The tube finally decided to move after seeing it out way. We measured the clearance just like they said, and everything was good, the crank bolt was posisitioned correctly but they just did not fit. A simple motor install took about a day and a half longer than it needed to. Oh well it's done now. Time to move on with life.......

Amen to that mate, I am aware that tollerances in the 60's/70's are not to the quality they are today, but seriously I don't know how they developed most of these parts to be sold as a mass product. It's like they were rushed to get them out asap instead of spending the extra time to ensure correct fitment. When you pay $700 for headers, $200 for engine mounts or be what it may you don't expect to have to have these items modified! I could probably quote how many times I have said - why didn't I just go with a tricked 340! It should be worth it all in the end!!!

Your experience today is exactly what I went through when I started my build. Thing is, denting header tubes, bending and forcing things is the type of things I had to do back when I was a kid working on my cars. I was absolutely not willing to put my current build together that way, so I sent all that stuff back too TTI and bought the AlterKtion. Never looked back...best thing I ever did...

Mate, I couldn't agree with this quote more, I wish I lived in the USA and I would have bought the alterktion in a heartbeat. When you have to factor in the cost of getting one of those over here (they are about 7500 from a vendor over here) even if you bought from the USA then the shipping and getting it engineered (they are anal over here) would just make it too expensive. BUT boy would it save some headaches, have I mentioned how much I hate torsion bars - those buggers get in the way of EVERYTHING!

Keep the updates coming mate :)
