Just wondering how deep your brand loyalties run?

Personally there is nothing better than mopar muscle era cars. Other than that I really have no loyalty. I just want a reliable car, bike, atv... I think Ford makes a damn nice product now, with doge/ram closing the gap while GM seems happy just to be in business. Had a Harley that I got tired of working on and got a Honda that I've never had one problem with. Tell a Harley guy that... Whoa boy... Might as well tell them their mom is a good lay. They'd take that better. One in particular is alway fixing something on his Harley. if you ask him it's the most reliable vehicle he's ever owned yet my buddy is tired of working on it for him. Lol.

The brands aren't loyal to me, why would I be loyal to them?

Much of the so called "brands" are imported, anyhow.

I will say, however, that I'll not be buying any more GM stuff, and even though I've never owned a Toy, I'd buy one before a GM

I find myself buying the same brand over & over in several areas of commerce. Gap, Banana Republic, Coke Zero, Chevron, Craftsman, Dockers, Mopar, AT&T. All for various reasons. I used to think there was rhyme & reason behind it, & some of it there is. For textiles, I like the modern, slimmer, sleeker look of bannana republic & gap and looking good is important to me, for soda I like the taste of Coke Zero just that simple. For others I'm probably a little more on the brainwashed side. AT&T because I work there & toe the company line. Chevron because their marketing makes me feel like my dollar is better spent (I have no supporting evidence), Mopar because I like the designs & used to be all about "buy American" but he cars are canadian while Toyota used to be assembled right down the street from me in Fremont, Ca, go figure. Craftsman be cause if it breaks Sears is easier to find than a Matco truck on a Sunday afternoon. So yeah I have brand loyalties that I follow, but apparently my reasoning behind it would only make sence in my head alone.

I'm a MOPAR or No car guy. My brand loyalty runs deep.
I admire other manufactures, they have good ideas in certain areas.
The thing I always liked about Chrysler Corp, they seem to do more with less.
They have won races against BIG coparate money manufactures. Nascar 2012, NHRA Pro-Stock 2012 championships plus many other championships for 2012.
I have driven them since I was 16, I'm 54 now, been with them thru good, bad, & hard times.
It is a company that stands tall, gets raped, then gets back up.
Their product line-up is better than ever & can compete against other manufactures.
Over the years, I have bought several new & used Chrysler products.
I have had one Lemon, a 1988 Caravan with the Mitsibishi V-6. I sold it as soon as it went out of warranty at 70K miles.
The A-body is the most amazing car around, light-weight & quick with a good small block in it.
They did things in the Muscle car era that other manufactures could only dream about.
So yes, I bleed Chrysler Blue!

Heck, Harley's are no longer an American only company now...Their engine was reworked by Porsche, electrics are an import..so are the tires I think...

When we raced, we stuck with Yamaha. I am on my second RAM. Pentax are the best cameras for the buck..they put their money into the product vs marketing.

Japanese cars only for my wife due to her mileage and need for AWD...and it is a domestic product.

Tide only due to the females in my house having skin rashes when we switch brands..

Buy from local companies before the big box stores...we make our money here and we spend our money here..

I normally do not wear a t-shirt with a name on it unless we like the brand (FABO :>) or they have sponsored us..

NEVER buy appliances from Sears again..

...all for now..

Ian.

i would be 100% loyal to Chrysler, except for the fact that i am not impressed with their current offerings.

poor marketing, parts pricing, exclusive marketing....all are reasons i would buy something else.

i like the new dart but i refuse to be forced into a 4 door when there are plenty of 2 door econo-boxes on the market.

i am also disappointed with their over-use and violation of classic names like R/T and HEMI. An R/T caravan???!!??

sounds like its time for them to hire a new product planning team and come up with something fresh that ppl would actually want to buy.

Brand loyal here. All Mopars....And Harley Davidson. And I have owned 8 Harleys and never had 1 problem.

Brand loyalty? Nah... not really. I drive a Ford and I work for Toyota lol. I am only loyal to mopar when it comes to muscle cars.

Talk about brand loyalty...my dad gave me two middle names: Roy (his name) and Harley(his bike!). Even better is my brother named my niece Hemi!

I'm not loyal to any brand, just prefer some more than others. I'm only 33 and I have put together at least one engine for all of the muscle-era American brands, and right now I have my Dart Sport, a Ford Explorer 5.0L, 68 Chevy C10, and an 09 Nissan Sentra. Ironically, no Harley.

My classic cars are mopar and my bikes are Harleys. Everything else is just transportation. Unlike 440 4 speed I have dropped a valve and trashed a motor but it was probably the 7k burnouts and pulling wheelies on the Galveston seawall that did it in.

My grandfather sold cars for Chrysler. Started back when he used to drive them door to door and sell it on the spot and walk back to work or home. He would buy them back if the person was not satisfied. I know this as we still have one he bought back. A 1959 Custom Royal that the lady decided was too big. He bought it back and kept it.

He would also paint them if they didn't like the color. I believe it was in the 40's that one person requested a purple one from him. They didn't have purple then out of the box so he had it painted. Sold them up and through the 70's.

So, I do like Mopar. Have had a couple of 74 Challengers, Power wagons, pickups, van and other autos. Currently we own four Subarus, a Toyota Land Cruiser, 92 Dodge Cummins, 80 Trailduster and 78 Ramcharger. The 72 Duster is in the family along with a plethora of others out at the farm.

I feel loyal to Chrysler but open to owning and enjoying others. All except GM and BMW, just don't appeal to me in looks or history. Have had a couple of VW's which I liked real well personally. Would buy another TDI if I ever ran across one.

I have had good luck with all my Mopars. My Subarus have been good to me and the Land Cruiser is world proven and mine has proven itself to me. Couple of Honda three wheelers which seem to run forever.

So, loyal and flexible.

My loyalty turns to who has whiskey and the coldest beer.

Grew up with Mopar ,and always liked the dashes and ergonomics better, they just fit.

When I was younger and living in AK around the biker scene, i thought a Harley would be the only ride. But then I saw the new Triumph Thunderbirds. Hell if they are good enough for Brando they are good enough for me!

If a vehicle gets me to and from places then I am loyal to it.

If a vehicle gets me to and from places then I am loyal to it.

Pretty much.

The vehicle has to be loyal to me. Not so much the brand, but the vehicle itself.

I've owned a lot of Mopars over the years, with a few Fords mixed, and Sarah's Hyundai sitting out in the driveway.

My '89 Ramcharger has been, no holds barred, the most trust worthy vehicle I have ever owned. It moved Sarah and I with each move. Hauled a lot of parts and pulled a lot of dead cars. Every time that truck just came back for more. Unfortunately, it's got self-changing oil (I pour the oil in the valve cover and comes running out all the other gaskets) which forced me to park it.

It's been replaced in the line-up by an '89 F150, which, in the month it's been on the road, has dragged my 23' dovetail a lot in my recent move. I've stressed the hell out of that little 302 and am impressed by the way it handles everything thrown at it.

The Hyundai saw a 3800 mile trip down the east coast and back last fall. Never a hiccup, never a problem, not a drop of oil used. Cruised along at 72mph nicely, road nice, and got decent fuel mileage doing it.

But, should I buy another F150, or Hyundai (highly unlikely, since I don't need another car) who's to say that those will be the same way? Nope, I'll fix what I have and be loyal to the car since the car has been loyal to me.

Talk about brand loyalty...my dad gave me two middle names: Roy (his name) and Harley(his bike!). Even better is my brother named my niece Hemi!

That's hilarious! Y'know, my buddy named his daughters Dana and Kelsey. After a few years I would tease his wife and tell her he named them that b/c Dana made the best rear ends and Kelsey-Hayes brakes are legendary. She just stared at me......and then him, like..."are you serious?" LMAO :violent1:

I don't really have any deep brand loyalty. We never owned a Mopar when I was a kid growing up, just GM stuff. I didn't own a Mopar until I bought an A-100 pickup and then noticed that I liked how it was put together.....plus I loved it b/c it was weird as hell. But there are plenty of American classic cars I'd own. I find it interesting to compare them.

Tell ya what, though.....if one compares a nova, falcon and a dart, the quality, engineering and overall "beefiness" of the Mopar really shines through. New cars? I dunno. Whole different story.

Speaking just on cars, while I have been a Mopar lover since getting back into muscle car projects, I can't say I am really brand loyal. Have owned/built/driven and enjoyed virtually all the big three over the years. Had an old Impala, Malibu, Nova, Firebird, Mustang, Coronet. Love jeeps and have owned 3 at one time when my wife and I were really into 4 wheeling. Have had a Toyota FX16 back in the 80's, wife currently drives a Sienna mini van, and I recently traded my old Vibe (read Toyota) in for an Infiniti M37x. The only brand I am reluctant to get back into is Ford. Mainly because the only time I grenaded a motor was in a 72 mustang...probaly not entirely the car's fault :eek:ops:. Though it seems Ford has really upped their game in recent years.

At the end of the day I am just a car guy....

I am mopar to the bone when it comes down to my classic / muscle car preferences. I daily drive my duster. when it comes to driving a **** box , I don't care what it is, they are all equally disposable in my opinion. when I get a new DD I will buy a camry , civic or whatever is on sale

I've owned a lot of Dodges in my life sprinkled with a few GM's but never a Ford until our current DD A 09 Ford Fusion. It' a great car and I would buy another.Looked for a DD Mopar and was disappointed in the offerings. That being said I think MOPAR has more Muscle Era cars I like than any other brand.I'm very partial to any year Dart but particularly 64 and 65's.Like Divenut I'm just a car guy.

I'm loyal to a point. When was the last time you saw an import on the road that was built in the 70's or 80's? Probably not any time recently. You don't see them at car shows either. With the exception of VW Bugs, they just didn't have any staying power. I remember people talking them up, making fun of me because of my "land yacht" but my Darts have held up over the years. Having said that, I'm not real happy with Chrysler right now, in fact I haven't been since May 15 1998. That's the day the Germans took over and ultimately allowed the Govt and Fiat get their hands on Chrysler. Currently I'm a parts mgr at a Mitsubishi dealer, everything I own is a Mopar. I'm allowed a demo, but always take a Mopar off the used car lot.
I am surprised however, how well the Mitsubishi's are built. Mitsu took some ques from Chrysler during their relationship. Not everything is perfect, but it's pretty damn good. So why am I not in a new Mitsu? well, mostly because I don't have to worry about miles on a used car. I can't put more 3K on a new car before they park it and I don't want several parked demo's. 2nd I guess I'm still loyal to Chrysler. after 20yrs in a parts room, it'll do it to you. If I was to switch to an American brand, it would almost have to be Ford. GM's are just horrible. From what I'm hearing from the GM parts Mgrs that I talk to, getting parts is a nightmare and going to get worse.

Those are pretty cool names! My brother enjoys the fact that anytime he takes his daughter someplace, whether it's in his Dart Sport, 67 Dodge truck, his Durango (I am noticing a pattern...) he can truthfully say "yeah, it's got a Hemi in it." LOL

My signature says it all when it comes to brand loyalty. "I like all brands of cars and trucks, but, I prefer Mopar".

...btw, you'll notice it does not say I like all kinds of cars and trucks. That would not be true, as I really don't care much, at all, for front wheel drive vehicles of any type or brand.

I'm not a Brand Snob, but I am a Drive Train Snob. RWD, 4WD, or AWD, only. ;)

Brand loyalty? Hardly. Would never have bought the Dart if the wife did not have such an issue with putting a T-bolt hood on our old Fairlane. Dart has a 9" under the *** end, the tunnel has been massaged for a 4l80e and I very well might end up with an LS for power, kind of hard to top going to a wrecking yard and getting a running EFI motor, ecu/harness and all for $1500 or so. I want an EFI set up. Pretty much any one of the aftermarket setups is going to run you at least $1500 just for the ecu, never mind the intake.injectors etc. I am no longer made of money, just want a running driving car. Bikes, have owned several Zukis, a couple of Yamaha's, a few Honda's.....
I think that the Purists, in particular when it comes to the dinosaurs we call a hobby, tend to be pretty narrow minded. Nothing wrong with the fact that Ford or GM might make something more suitable towards whatever your goal is with your ride. To sit here and say that everything Mopar has ever made, whether it be a cylinder head, a transmission, alternator or what have you is better or more suited to what one wants to accomplish is pretty out there......in my opinion....

Don't know if it is necessarily brand loyality, but for me, it is understanding the engineering, production, and ethics, behind that brand. Also, I like rooting for the underdog!
I've owned 3 FoMoCo products (last one in '92), 0 from GM, and the rest have been from Ma Mopar!
Never had a vehicle leave me stranded, YET!!
