If you haven't noticed the new Ram bumpers they have the exhaust cut through a portion of the bumper.

I had this crazy idea to mate one of ours, with one of these and have it re-chromed.

Thoughts?

if thats something your interested in doing....no need to buy a new ram bumper and mate it . Save your self the cash.

you could easily take a diameter of pipe that is larger than your exaust tip. cut it in half so what your left with is a half moon. Then lay it out on your current bumper where you want the "cut outs" to be. then stencil it. Then cut the half moon out of your bumper.

Then the section of half moon pipe you made earlier would fit scalloped directly into the bumper. Then weld, grind, have chromed.

of course there is alot fancier that could be done with it depending on what your going for.

the "half moon chunk of pipe (which is half of a circle in shape) could be heated with a torch and bent out some to become a little more oblonged if a perfect half circle isnt what your going for.

you could also take plate steel and box in the bottom of the bumper and weld it into the sides of the half moon scallop piece you it looks like a one piece clean fixture.

just figured I would toss out some ideas.

I've been thinking about this since first seeing the bumpers on the new Rams. Thinking I'd like to do this on my '69 Dart but with the original factory rectangular tip design rather than round. Unfortunately, I don't have the metalworking skills to do this - just the ideas.
I'm going to have to get busy and crawl under the Dart to see if there's even room to do this.

Awsome guys. Thanks.

I actually contacted B2 Hemi cars and asked about purchaseing one of their bumpers. I'll share their reply.

76OrangeWagon: EXACTLY. What to make another? ;) I'd be willing to pay!

It looks like B2 Hemi cars just notched out for the tip that would be alot easier way to go than what I did, although I wanted to retain the factory stamped design of the Ram bumper to add some character to the Duster.

I temporarily put the bumper off of my 72 Valiant onto my 72 Duster.I was thinking you could remove the back up lights and run the exhaust through there. You would have to enlarge the holes and it might be a pita to get the exhaust there but be worth it.

It does look like they just notched it......yours looks a lot nicer but for those of us that are "challenged" when it comes to this sort of stuff it might be a bit much....

Honestly it wasn't that complicated...once I found a damanged bumber and cut out a big enough area around the Dodge Ram opening to give me room to work without being in the stamped radius I traced the pattern onto my dechromed Duster bumper and used a cut off wheel inside the line to give a nice close fit and welded it up...(if you cant weld that well or not at all I'm sure if you got everthing cut out the way you wanted it someone could weld it up for you) and then I just ground the welds flat. It really didn't take more than a couple hours. The rear metal spoiler was the same thing I had never tried something like that before but figured the worst that can happen is I need to get another deck lid if I screw it up, I started with some 1/4" steel rod and started bendinging it into a shape I liked and literally within hours the spoiler was framed. Granted I am a Fabricator for the Air Force so I work with metal on a daily basis so I may be a little more comfortable doing this but I have never done these type of projects before but if you have some basic tools and a clear vision of what you want to accomplish you should be able to pull it off. Okay there's my pep talk for the day.

Orangewagon - That's bad a$$ lookin' nice job! Love it...

Thanks, I went through several types of tip ideas before the light bulb turned on to this design. I just started working on the front bumper also, shaved 2" off the overall length moved it back toward the grille 1" and will be stud mounting all the factory bolt mounting holes, filling in the jack slots removing the license plate area and replacing it with a pair of driving lights (like in my current Avitar). If you feel like checking out the pics, I've posted several so far on my build thread (Link Below).
