The results of my forgetting to re-install a fuel line I had taken off the carb... and the resulting carnage...Remember; haste makes waste...

Man so sorry guy that is heart braking to me, glade you saved the car!! I have done things like that over the years but l dodged the bullet i was lucky.

!!!MAN!!!

Years ago I had only one piece of conventional fuel hose on my RR. I had braided line everyplace except for two inches of GATES BRAND fuel hose, which was only about 1 1/2 --2 years old at the time, between a metal fuel filter and the Holley.

Started the car to warm it up. Went out, got in the car, and started to drive off, smelled smoke, SAW smoke, and that hose had cracked and started to leak.

Sooted up under the hood some, and melted some of the ignition harness, but I was LUCKY. I I had been in the building for another 2-5 minutes, it would have been a smoldering pile of ashes.

Wow Bill I'm really sorry that happened to you guys. I've followed the build since you guys started. You guys are a HUGE inspiration to me. If we can do anything to help let us know!

Mike

All the more reason to step by and inspect your work after you're done to make sure you didn't forget anything.

As I get older I forget all kinds of stuff..... Like leaving the house with my zipper down and Chile hanging out...... LOL

Glad that it wasn't worse! I think it looks alot worse than it is. Couple hours and it will look like it never happened~

O my goodness Bill And I was wanting to possibly see you race that V8 turbo Valiant more door, I have seen this cool/fast ride in person and I have faith you will make the best of it.
At first I thought it was your /6 build!! I have seen/herd/video'ed this one run.
Now what is your plan Bill, did it hurt anything ? I am sure the carb, wires and hoses will need repaired... So sorry to see this happen to you Bill.. I am glad you keep a fire extinguisher handy at all times.

I would like to write you all individually and thank you for your support... it means a lot to me, but I am a twp-finger typist and I just don't have the time to do that, sooo... I'll just say

THANKS!!!
and hope that no one is offended.

I ordered the new engine wiring harness a few minutees ago, so I now have eveything here (except the harness, which is on its way) to put everything back into its previous condition.

At least, I got rid of that rat's nest of spaghetti (wiring) that had been an eyesore for a long time... :violent1:

I'll post a picture when it's done....:happy1:

It sounds like you have a plan, and parts on it's way  memikie is happy to see this update :D
And so soon after I seen it Bill......... Burn Notice :D good touch :glasses7:

Memike;

It burned for at least five minutes so, the rear float bowl melted. along with the firewall wiring insulation, all the hoses, the distributor wiring, and the cable that works the throttle, and the tranny kick-down lever.

But, I have all that stuff in my possession now, and have ordered the wiring harness for the engine.

So, it's just a matter of getting busy and doing it...

I appreciate your concern!

Sorry to see, **** seems to follow me too unless I slow down and not rush things. If I don't something always F#$%s up. I almost burnt a newly built 383 to the ground once.

At age 74, you'd think I'd have learned SOMETHING about slowing down, but, noooooooo.....:banghead:

i agree. it could have been alot worse. good thing you know what to look for. could have been a really bad deal.
