Alright guys, got an intake and exhaust manifold today from the local junkyard off of a 1983 Dodge Ram, which I assume was Miser package truck, slant 6, 833OD shortbed.

Anyways I now have the 2 barrel intake off of it, which is aluminum and I'm curious if it's worth posting for sale or not or what to ask for it, I'd use it but I don't have a 2bbl laying around and I don't really want to dedicate funds to getting and rebuilding another carb as I just finished rebuilding the Holley 1945 for my sport last night :banghead:

Anyways, input is appreciated!

they are very prone to leaking thru the casting which is a bummer. you can have it sealed but that just is money. people will still buy them!

interesting to know! I was going to use it with an 80's Dakota throttle body but the flange is different. Are these intakes safe to media blast or no?

if you planning on using it i would send it to a powder coater and see if they think they can kinda fill it, or a cermic coating

I don't really plan on using it, i wanted the exhaust manifold since it didn't have all of the crossover studs snapped off like mine does and it had a downpipe on it

Post a pic. There are two different aluminum ones. A one piece and a two piece. The two pieces are the crappy ones but they made the most of them by a long shot...of course. You can tell by lookin at it. If it has bubblegum lookin weld all the way around the perimeter, it's the crappy one. The cast iron ones are much better.

it's the two piece with the weld all around it. if it's not worth it's weight in scrap I may just pick up a 2bbl to use it with, it's definitely lighter than my stock 1bbl iron pile.

Moparkid, do you think an epoxy primer/paint would work decent to assure a seal, they let me run the truck in the yard and it ran like a top, better than my dart so i wonder if it really has any sealing issue

You can seal it with paint. But powder coating is much better. Send it to the CudaChick and she will hook you up.

I have one that I haven't used yet. I plan on using POR 15. It's my understanding that they ALL don't leak, but are prone to it. If it was running great I think a quality painting will suffice...but if you're looking to make some $$$...see if that junkyard hs a Super Six kckdown linkage

The e-beam welded aluminum intakes sell for <$20. I have one and it sure is light. I have only seen 1 bbl ones. 2 bbl cast alum intakes sell for >$50. One is on ebay right now.

Okay, fresh back from the junkyard with the 2bbl in hand... it may be fun the get a kickdown to work with the manual trans carb...

Are there any tricks to removing the old bolts that hold the intake and exhaust together? I cut the heads off the bolts to get the intake off of the exhaust manifold (they started to twist off when i heated the manifold and turned the heads)
