Got a haircut today

Well Bruce, we haven't gone to that church in a few years now because of that exact thing. .....and that's been my family church on my mother's side since 1947. So, my family goes back a long way there. I was born into that church.

When Kitty had both her heart attacks a couple of years ago, we didn't hear from a soul there. Another friend who was finance director there but had gotten tired of it and left for another church, got HIS pastor to come visit Kitty. .......and he did several times until she got home and he came out here several times, but we never heard from our own church or our pastor.

We were Youth Directors there for several years. We gave small amounts to the church, we didn't tithe. Our reasoning was that since we drove in 21 miles one way in the morning AND again for youth group, we were giving what we could. We also never got any help whatsoever with the youth. Just 25 or so neighborhood kids and Kitty and I.

Bottom line, since we didn't give lots of money, the church pretty much turned its back on us. So, I have no real use for organized religion. I have a strong faith in God, but not much in man.

And that's extremely disappointing. I've been in a few of those churches. Usually have to leave after a while when Sarah and I would bring too much sense to the reasons as they were there. There was usually a push back from the old establishment who couldn't deal with a changing world and two rather "youthful" folks who were go getters in setting standards for what the church should be there for.

These days I'm happy to be a pew sitter and a cheerleader for others.

Gotta tell ya, Rob. That's one surprising pic from when I met you and Kitty last fall.
