NHRA Top Fuel uses a Hemi?

You think every top alcohol dragster..and alcohol funny car wants to throw away their current inventory of blocks..heads and cranks...and buy something new....

that is why nhra said no.. COST

same reason for the spec engine for fuel classes....they are lucky these days to get 16 top fuel and funny cars to show up...with only about half that many having a real chance to win.

They (the racers) didn't have to throw out anything, Ford came out with an engine that was within the rules at the time, the NHRA changed the rules. If it's not banned, do it! That's what every form of racing is about. It's up to any individual racer what he/she runs whether Ford or Mopar. Now they just don't have a choice. BTW, I'm sure Ford would've kicked in free parts to anyone who wanted to run that engine.

The NHRA put ridiculous restrictions on Japanese Pro-Stock bikes too and it had nothing to do with cost. Jap bikes are limited to 107 ci, Harley gets up to 160 ci. for starters.
