anyone running a set of these...how is the sound and performance

ready for mufflers a buddy recommended these.....

Love the Dynomax on my cars. Actually, very tame until you get on them and I don't experience any droning noises that I did with the Flowmasters.

love the super turbos. i was running the 3" large case. car was mellow and quiet sounding. i loved it.. have a friend that has the smaller 2 1/2 muffler and that is quite a bit louder then mine was. still not stupid or annoying loud though. nice and deep sounding.

as for drone it seems some cars do and others don't.. almost seems cars with exhaust manifolds(with or with out cross over) will drone and cars with headers don't. but who knows what really causes it..

I run a complete 3" TTI H-pipe system on my Charger with a 493" engine...at 4050 pounds, it runs 11.20@120 but traction limited. They sound quietly great at idle IMO, I love 'em, and minimal drone on the highway. I'll go with an X-pipe next time, as I hear that lessens drone too.

:burnout:

here is how my dart sounded...

tti headers, 3"pipe, magnaflow X-Pipe and the large case 3" super turbos.

the car in persons was a lot quieter and quite a bit deeper sounding. for some reason the camera changes the sound slightly.

Just like everyone else, I love the super turbos. I have the 2 1/2 inch models and find they have just the right mix of idle sound, quiet drone free cruising, and wide open sound. Here is a pic of my home built system.

sweet!

Wish to 'ell my 67 looked like that under there!!!

Have you made a choice yet?
I personally love the Super Torbos.
Here are a pair 2 1/2 inchers with H pipe through HP manifolds all mounted to a mild 440
Nice rumble at idle and little to no drone but is hard to tell how much because the rear end has a howl that we cant get rid of from 1600-2700 RPM

Super turbos sound great, very mellow though even at WOT. The dynomax VT is a nice In between and dynomax bullets are awesome! I love my magnaflow 14" and the flowmasters just didn't do anything for me at all. Stick with dynomax, you'll love it!

I must be the only one against the super turbos ! They were to mellow for me, now running ultra flow welded, much better !!

on a small block yea little too mellow much much better on a big block
For small blocks I like summit turbo muffs nice and loud and some drone but not unbarable and i just dont like the drone from Blowmasters

been listening to sound clips, comments from here and my buds etc....I'm thinking of the dynomax VT's now looks like they are around 80 each

the reviews said that the "flapper valve" would jingle and noisy at idle, the dynomax tech I called said that they would do that unless you had an x or h pipe installed

nice rumble at idle, not offensive or loud till you get on it...........then WOW

I love mine!

Had a couple of sets, damn hard to beat for a mild street /strip combo. Those extra long cased ones ABodyJoe,are the best I have seen.

Just wanted to comment on the Dynomax VT mufflers. The flapper valves in the mufflers clang around like crazy when they are cold. You can really hear it if you have them dumped at the axle. With long tail pipes, I am sure it would be less noticeable. Something to keep in mind with the VT mufflers they come in single and dual applications. The duals have lighter springs and will tend to clang at an idle. I was told the single applications have stronger springs and reduce the amount of clanging at an idle.

I am currently running the 3" version for dual applications, but I am considering switching to the single application version.

I opted for the super turbos when I ordered my TTI exhaust and it was a GREAT choice. Have to say even though I have a 318, it still had a great sound. I always thought they were too quiet until I heard them under a load when someone else was driving, and dang they're a bit louder than I realized. And the compliments on the sound was always cool!

I Installed the Dynomax VT's on my 67 GTS to help with the drone. Decreased the drone about 12db and no problem with valve rattle. Didn't eliminate the drone. Stock manifolds no crossover pipes out the back. I put side branch resonators tuned to the drone frequency which totally eliminated the drone.

The 2 1/2" super turbos are 2 1/4" internally. And the offset in center out design flows like crap due to the center pipe right in the way when the exhaust tries to make the 180 degree turn. And after that 180 degree turn the 2 1/4" pipe is just cut straight not tapered out to facilitate flow. When I took them off my car and swapped on some Ultra Flo's it was like a cork was taken out of the exhaust. The offset in offset out super turbos are a much better design because the exhaust does not have to squeeze around that middle outlet pipe.

Here's how they sound on a completely stock 2bbl 318 with manifolds and 2-1/4 pipe:

I had a early generation of Accurate mufflers on my GTS along with the Accurate 2 1/4" compression bent system. Could never figure out why the car didn't perform the way it should have. I cut these off:

and replaced them with a pair of Dyno Max Super Turbos. With no other changes, the GTS went almost a FULL SECOND faster and it picked up 4MPH! Not bad for $84!! Since then I have replaced that system with a TTi X-pipe 2 1/2" mandrell bent with Dyno Max Ultra Flo mufflers. That was worth another 2 tenths faster in ET and another 1 1/2 mph as well.
